Interest in backports?

Recruitment

I've seen a few people offering spots in ports to 2e, which recently got me thinking: what would the opinion be on running one or more backports to 1e of some 2e adventure paths? I don't know how many I could keep up at once, but I would definitely be down to run at least one if there's enough people interested. This is just an interest check, and I'd have to purchase the books in question unless it's Outlaws of Alkenstar that the people want, since that's the only 2e AP I have at the moment.

If I do run a game, it'd likely include some backported mechanics from 2e to make everything relatively seemless. These would include languages available, backports of a few deities, as well as potentially a few campaign-specific rewrites needed, and potentially an Inventor backport if I can find a decent one. Some tweaks would be needed to the ruleset for certain campaigns, Strength of Thousands would likely warrant a Gestalt ruleset courtesy of Free Archetype in 2e along with a bit of increased difficulty, Outlaws would require changing a few things to be inline with what's magic and what's not for 2e (and Commonplace Guns), and so on.

But would anyone be interested in this in general? Perhaps a specific AP people want to see adapted for 1st edition?

Huh. Neat idea. Sounds interesting. Mark me down as interested.

Edited:
Forgot to mention APs.

1. Outlaws Of Alkenstar. Just seems like a cool setup.
2. Abomination Vaults might be fun. Who doesn't like a dungeon crawl?
3. Sky King's Tomb, possibly.

Outlaws of Alkenstar in 1e? Yes, please!

Would totally be interested in Outlaws, and would be super interested in Edgewatch tbh.

I'm interested in Edgewatch and Outlaws Strength of Thousands and Ruby Phoenix in that order.

Definitely would be interested. If you're worried about the workload of porting the AP and running it, maybe see if you can offload some of the conversion work to the players? Seems only fair.

Outlaws? I'm game. Also for some of the work, too.

Yes. Any of them, really.

Yeah, any of 'em, really. :D What would you WANT to run?

Looks like you've definitely got some interest, Violant.

I'll probably leave the interest check open for a few more days just in case a bunch of people want some other AP. And yeah, if the players would be down for it I'd probably be down for offloading some of it to the players to convert to 1e.

Didn't expect this much interest this fast! And Phlynn, I genuinely don't care which one. Outlaws was the one that started this question (gun archetypes), since I've always wanted to play that one, but I figured if everyone jumped on one of them in specific, I could run it.

also interested! Not super familiar with the 2e paths but looking at the ones mentioned here all seem cool!

dotting for interest.....

Having skimmed the Pathfinder wiki AP page, Blood Lords and Quest for the Frozen Flame are the two that jump out at me. But whatever you run, I'll take a good hard look at.

a list of 2e AP might help.

  • Age of Ashes
  • Extinction Curse
  • Agents of Edgewatch
  • Abomination Vaults
  • Fists of the Ruby Phoenix
  • Strength of Thousands
  • Quest for the Frozen Flame
  • Outlaws of Alkenstar
  • Blood Lords
  • Gatewalkers
  • Stolen Fate
  • Sky King's Tomb
  • Season of Ghosts

With a special mention for Kingmaker Second Edition, which should be the easiest to adapt.

Season of Ghosts sounds interesting. Haven't seen it but set in Tian Xia is a plus.

Yeah I'm not adapting Kingmaker 2e back to 1e, that's a no.

Haven't ever looked at 2nd ed PF,
but since it is being back-ported to PF 1st ed.

Taking a brief look over the 2nd Ed APs.
Two have my interest;

Agents of Edgewatch (Most interest)
and
Season Of Ghosts (interest)

Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Maps Subscriber

Dotting for interest.

Let me see if I have Module 1 of Edgewatch just so that it doesn't need to be purchased if we run it. I thought I did but that was a while ago.

I would be interested in this. Here are my top 3

1. Strength of Thousands
2. Agents of Edgewatch
3. Sky King's Tomb

So, any hints on which way(s) you're leaning, Violant?

It's a toss up between Outlaws and Edgewatch, but I'll likely go Outlaws if only because I already have the AP at hand. Might have a recruitment thread available sometime soon.

it is up
