Was there an ability trait that was going to be removed in remastered?

I could have sworn I heard some comments on some specific trait being considered redundant and due to that going to be removed, but I now realize that 1)I'm not sure which trait 2) I'm not sure that is actually going to happen and isn't just hearsay or my misunderstanding?

But yeah, was there basically trait that was more trouble than its worth?

I guess it could be the spells traits of Verbal, Somatic and Material.

Yeah, that's the one that I remember actually being announced. The Open trait on Fighter abilities.

I can also hope that the Aura trait will go away too, but that is just my own wishful thinking.

What's wrong with the aura trait?

It's unnecessary unless there are some rules which work explicitly (and meaningfully) with auras but not other emanations.

Emanation with duration is already an 'aura' by definition.

Post a link to an effect that has an Emanation Area and has a duration that you think should be in a fixed location after the initial creation of the effect rather than moving around with the caster.

And once you have found one, then explain why the effect shouldn't be changed to a Burst area instead.

I don't actually remember fully. Something about it not being fun or being needed for balance.

I think it was announced in the GenCon Twitch Stream though. So you can probably watch through that again and get the dev's reasoning straight from them.

Yeah, they said that the open trait isn't really providing any balancing issues that they were maybe first concerned it would, and that in play, players were often just ignoring it anyway.

I had completely forgotten that the Open trait even existed. :)

I think that there were a lot of mechanics like that — where the designers were uncertain how they would interact in this new game system and so understandably played things conservatively. I know that the Remaster was forced by external events, but I think that the opportunity to update all of those mechanics is going to massively improve the game.

I think that's related to why they're getting rid of it. Most things with the Open trait already were things that you didn't want to do with MAP on the books. You don't want to use Deadly Aim with less accuracy, if you need to move to attack someone you're going to use sudden charge before you make any attacks, impossible flurry/volley cost 3 actions, etc.

For some things, like Point-Blank Shot which is a stance, it didn't really make sense to begin with.
