The Eldritch Platypus

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

Will you be publishing a platypus character class or a wereplatypus? I am asking for a friend.... And that friend is the voice in my head. This is very important as the voice threatened to stop talking to me if I did not ask....... I may be willing to accept a Warlock character class and/or a Dragonfire Adept equivalent. Also, will there be official rules for neutral Champions? Rules for Samurai/Bushi/Kensai? Wujen/Onmyoji? Shugenja? Shinobi?

Sorry I don't understand the first question.

About neutral Champions it's a recurrent demand from many players since the playtest but since the last 3-4 years this is completely ignored by Paizo designers. I don't know if we will see something like that one day.

About oriental classes we don't have any until now. But I expect them in some future books focused in Xian-tia region. I don't even know if they will come as a complete class or as archetypes (like Samurai being a fighter class archetype or Wujen/Onmyoji being like an Oracle archetype/subclass, same for Ninjas and Shugenjas). But I believe they will come once that we already have Ancestries (races) based in oriental culture like Tengus and Kitsunes.

The Platypus is a Beastkin and I'd go with Monk or perhaps Investigator.

I'm not sure I'd characterize things that way. I think perhaps it's more that other things have had a higher priority.

I think Paizo isn't terribly interested in writing champions of neutral.

AT the very least I expect there never to be NN "True Neutral" champion. I could see room for a LN and CN champion...but honestly I think LN champion is basically the Hellknight archetype(s), or rather that might be as close as we get.

We'll probably never have the Warlock class, but we are getting kineticist which while different in lore and trappings, is mechanically about what I'd expect.

As for East Asian themed classes...I would more likely expect them to be archetypes at most, because most of them are too similar to other classes to stand on their own.

Ninja is should just be an archetype that pairs well with rogues.

Shugenja, without the setting of Golarion are really just an oracle or cleric, with access to the right additional spells based on deity or mystery/curse.

The same could really be said of the other things you ask for too.

Personally I don't want all these things to be classes, because there's not really enough room for so many classes to have individual mechanical niches within the system.

Archetypes that adapt things should end up being enough.

Or a summoner with a beast eidolon.
