I am looking to build a PC for a Skulls & Shackles campaign (using this Alia’s) but I am having some trouble settling on an idea. The only thing set in stone is a human (or human like) pirate type character with a parrot. Please no monster races.
I’ve looked at duettist bard (leaning toward this), but also sanctified slayer inquisitor, nature fang Druid, bonded investigator, beast bonded magus and many others but can’t settle on anything. I enjoy playing versatile classes with spells and skills that will spend time on the front lines. I think this PC will use a whip or perhaps a rapier and if we could get her a firearm that would be a bonus. I usually don’t dip but I am open to any and all ideas.
Also, a big part of my idea is for her to have a parrot familiar named “Silent Rob” (a not so silent) smart mouthed sidekick. Perhaps with the protector archetype but I’ve never had a PC with a familiar before so I am unsure.
Build rules: starting at 5th level,15 point buy, automatic bonus progression, feat at every level, elephant in the room feat tax, and 5000gp to start.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

The duettist bard actually looks good. Performing Familiar looks like it could be useful. Versatile Familiar could be pretty cool. Take perform comedy and have your familiar use intimidate and bluff on others. The parrot can actually talk which could be hilarious when your opponents are arguing with your parrot. During combat he can use intimidate to demoralize your opponents. Bards not only have a lot of skill points they also have a huge amount of class skills. A magus with its INT will get a decent number of skill points but the bard is king of skills.
Make sure to take Heroism as one of your 2nd level spells. It is a +2 to basically all d20 rolls and last 10 minutes per level.

You have to be a Bard and there has to be at least one scene where you let "Silent Rob" use a Boombox (your instrument with an illusion) outside of Ye Olde Quick Stop or you're not allowed to make this character. Sorry I don't make the rules.

I am looking to build a PC for a Skulls & Shackles campaign; {paraphrased}
theme: pirate with parrot(Silent Rob)
race: humanoid/human
class: looked at; duettist bard, sanctified slayer inquisitor, nature fang Druid, bonded investigator, beast bonded magus, etc. Familiar with protector arch.
desired play style: versatile classes with spells and skills that will spend time on the front lines. I think this PC will use a whip or perhaps a rapier and if we could get her a firearm that would be a bonus. I usually don’t dip but I am open to any and all ideas.Home Campaign Build rules: starting at 5th level, 15 point buy, automatic bonus progression, feat at every level, elephant in the room feat tax, and 5000gp to start.
The abundance of feats favors martial classes. PC WBL chart
The main issue I see is having spells AND being on the front line. In the game those are somewhat opposed themes and you pay for that ability dearly. It yields Alchemist, Bard, Cleric, Gunslinger/Wiz1, Investigator/Wiz1, Magus, Ninja/Wiz1, Swashbuckler/Wiz1, Unc Summoner(Synthesist){HG}/Gunslinger1, Warpriest. Dipping into wizard 1 for item use will mean Trait:Magical Knack and 12-16 First level spells (total) at 15gp for each extra spell (NPC access + scribe cost) then Pearl of power First and some Wands 1@1[50-25 chg]{If you have Craft Wand then price/2}.
I'd take a Craft Wondrous Item Feat for items as your WBL numbers are low and that means CL is an issue -> Bard, Cleric, Magus, Warpriest, Wizard (possible Mage-killer build, Tattooed Wizard).
On a humorous note the Parrot could be a Figment Arch thus "Silent Rob".
Race: somewhat depends on class but aasimar, samsaran, human, half-elf, gillman, undine, maybe half-orc, grippli.
A good 15 pt ability score array would be; 16,12,12,11,10,10; 16,14,12,10,10,8.
