Reign of Winter does/has/still does sound fun, classic and nostalgic for home....

Nostalgic for home? And Reign of Winter is the only AP I've actually finished so far.

Looks like I'm the only one throwing a vote out for 'Kingmaker.'

Yes, RH! Florida is hot...lol!

I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring and say either Wrath of the Righteous or Reign of Winter.

I've never really given much though to Reign of Winter - never even submitted a character for one - but maybe could find some inspiration.

Is this AP any good for Medium-sized mounted characters?

I took a peek at the maps in the first book. There's a fair amount of outside areas but also a few that will not fit a charging horse. It might be better than most for such a character.

I have always wanted to play Reign of Winter or Strange Aeons!

Return of the Runelords
Curse of the Crimson Throne
Tyrant's Grasp

And for extra special consideration, Savage Tide in PF 1e. :D

Book 1:
In both my 2 runs, we only got to The Lodge. Up until then at least there seemed room to have a mounted pc. Reading the player friendly bits about RoW, it does seem doable...
Grand Lodge

** spoiler omitted **

I had a similar experience as well.

I do love WOTR, if I may make a crazy suggestion:

What if we start in Act 4 with GM Timmys mythic changes?

It is probably one of the most unique and interesting locations.

Alright I've got a lot of feedback thank you everyone.

It comes down to Wrath of the Righteous and Reign of Winter. Sorry Ironfang people it doesn't look like something I want to run.

Wrath would be easier but one of my current players I want to play doesn't want Wrath specifically.

I am starting a Reign of Winter game and will get up a recruitment thread for it soon.

Good choice :) I'm in book 3 of RoW and I'm enjoying it tbh.

Sounds like a plan! Witches in the snow it is!

Neat!

Hooray!

Haven't played Reign of Winter before, so i'm looking forward to that recruitment.

Curiosity, that I would appreciate being addressed in the recruitment thread:

Do you prefer characters that belong in Southern Taldor (story starting point), or characters that belong in the frozen tundra?

The Player's Guide certainly suggests building characters for the tundra, despite where the story begins.

I'm asking, of course, to help shape my submission.

He journeyed onwards, straight ahead ... and finally came to a little hut; it stood in the open field, turning on chicken legs. He entered and found Baba Yaga the Bony-legged. "Fie, fie," she said, "the Russian smell was never heard of nor caught sight of here, but it has come by itself. Are you here of your own free will or by compulsion, my good youth?" "Largely of my own free will, and twice as much by compulsion! Do you know, Baba Yaga, where lies the thrice tenth kingdom [ru]?" "No, I do not," she said, and told him to go to her second sister; she might know..

Awesome.

Will check out the Player's Guide and start working on character ideas.

Scarab Sages

A similar question hustonj's about local vs cold weather characters, but more specific.

I'm thinking about a Twilight Speaker archetype Skald since it's whole party friendly without the rage acceptance issues. That would mean the character would have to be an Ilvarani/Snowcaster Elf. On the other hand, Twilight Speakers specifically travel outside the Crown of the World to the south as goodwill ambassadors/chroniclers/spies.

Is it too wacky to have one happen to be in the right area in Taldor at the campaign's beginning?

100% got a winter witch in mind for Reign of Winter!

Looking at the ROW Players Guide I've got an inkling to offer for recruitment a GingerBread Witch with the Campaign Trait 'Failed Winter Witch Apprentice', who was more interested in cooking magic than the politics of Irrisen.

Considering an Arcanist with the Adaptive Magic campaign trait.

That or some sort of survival-focused melee type (Ranger or Barbarian) since there seems to be an abundance already of casters likely to be submitted.

Yeeeeaaaah, Reign of Winter! Got a changeling bloodrager I've got built already.

I've got a Witch-Hunter Inquisitor ready with the Vigilante Witch Hunter campaign trait. And I promise that the only witches he'll be smacking are the baddies :)

Everyone's thinking about doing fancy classes, and here I am, relying on good ol' fighter or barbarian.

Settling on Monk, methinks.
Have always wanted to play one but never had the opportunity.

A second choice (or first choice as I am torn) would be a fighter of some kind into a Prestige Class, so I'm there with you.

I'm gonna work on a hunter I think, maybe an inquisitor either way focusing on teamwork feats!
