Just to have a good time. Play in group back home with older VCs and LT that have been around a while. We can shoehorn just about anything into a group. I want some novel, effective and fun class to play. I’m leaning towards a new summoner but open to all options. As this will be my dash one character, it will be around awhile.

You'll have fun with summoner. The consensus is that the bard is the best caster but it can get repetitive. The plant eidolon is a good general melee combatant that's easy to use. Anger phantom will net a ton of damage and has access to heroism on the spell list to wreck things with fatal unarmed attacks. If you want to focus on the casting side, go with fey.

It depends in part on what you want to do.
- If you like being a healer, then heal-font cleric is Best Healer, especially with the supporting feats.
- Bard is a bit OP as a buffer
Arguably, both of those are pretty passive, though, which limits the fun-factor for some folks.
- Druid is the third of the Slightly OP Caster Trifecta. In particular, you can get some real solid power out of using wild shape (with feats as appropriate) to achieve general combat adequacy, thus letting you have effectively your entire spell budget for "I get to be awesome in noncombat encounters" and "all-in max burn nova".
...but I guess that part of it is finding the fun - so what is fun for you?

Can totally recommend summoner. I'm playing a dragon eidolon summoner and having a blast with it. I like how flexible your turns can be, which keeps me invested in the combat and always thinking of different things to do.
Not to mention, once you hit level ten and start getting monster abilities doing things like auto tripping or shoving is great.

I like my days as an old shadow priest, you know….melting faces ;). I like all styles of play. I’ve had just about every character type in first edition. Successfully negotiated Bonekeep so I like the characters to be able to take a hit and dish it out as well. My first class was sorcerer who I loved playing. Second class was barbarian 2, alchemist 10 (monster mode with numerous natura attacks) and my 3rd was an inquisitor.
