So, its been more than three months since the last blog update by the UPW, much longer since Paizo shared anything meaningful. Has the UPW lost steam? Has their leadership been determined? Are they in active negotiations with Paizo?
Has Paizo successfully "weathered the storm" and returned to business as usual?

I believe they’ve said the union won’t have much to say until negotiations are done.

That Mark Seifter and Jason Tondro have left the company, explicitly citing their wages as the motivating factor, does paint a certain picture of things.

That and the complete absence of the newly selected Human Resources person who may or may not be a member of the Executive Team.

She has certainly broken the mold of how Paizo staff interact with the Paizo community.

I’d missed that! Thank you.

Tondro was poached by Wizards of the Coast.

If they want to hire someone from Paizo I don't think they're going to be able to match whatever it is they're offering no matter how generous a contract is struck by UPW.

No, but often if you're happy where you are and content with both the pay and conditions, it will take a lot more of an increase to lure you away.

While I'm sure this thread comes from a good place, I'd actually like to request that people wrap up these discussions and direct their attention to the United Paizo Workers website and @PaizoWorkers Twitter account. These sources will always contain the most up-to-date information that the workers can make public at the time. Please keep in mind that the timelines on these sorts of things can be long, but it doesn't mean that people aren't working hard behind the scenes, just that it takes a long time both to work out major changes in workplace structure and to get things firm to the point they can be broadcast to the general public.

I know it's hard to wait, especially when you're invested in the health of the company and the workers, but this sort of public speculation on what might or might not be true, as reconstructed from other observations, has a unfortunate habit of easily morphing from speculation into "fact" that can make it harder, not easier, to effect change. Speaking from firsthand experience, having people speculate on aspects of your personal life, identity, or situation on the internet usually isn't a great feeling and often eventually hits a point where you're forced to step in and comment on something you'd otherwise have rather let pass.

The UPW Twitter keeps its posts pretty on-topic and to the point, so feel free to turn on notifications so you know when major changes happen!

Thank you for the link. I do not follow Twitter (or most other social media sites for that matter) and I imagine I'm not alone. Interesting that Twitter would have more up to date information than their own website.

Does not seem so in this instance as it seems the UPW posted something on Twitter that was not present on their own website. Hence, the appearance of radio silence and the impetus of the inquiry.

But the website contains the twitter feed on the front page. So if you looked at the front page you would see the post without having to go on Twitter.

I mean even if they try to I doubt it's going to happen. It's not like this is the only dumpster fire that Paizo had. This is the only dumpster fire that ended up burning so brightly that people took notice which is kind of amazing.

Also, with that being said it's going to take a while for them to fix all of the issues that they have created over the years. I do think things are moving positively. Hell even before the incident I think progress was being made. It's just such a huge mess. I've been vocal about my issues and feel entirely justified doing so but Im not going put unrealistic expectations on what can be done.

Actual labor organizer chiming in: contract negotiations can take a long time. Sometimes that's the result of management slow walking the process, but often it's because this stuff is complicated, especially so in situations like this where you're creating a bargaining agreement more or less from whole cloth.

Even when you have an existing agreement, they can take time. My own union began our negotiations for next year's contract over a month ago, and that's with only some specific topics on the table, let alone the whole agreement.

Generally, one of the first things both parties agree to is to not share details of negotiations with people who are not a part of them. This helps to foster a good faith bargaining environment where everyone can be honest and forthright with one another. So, as people who aren't in Paizo management or a part of the bargaining unit, you're not going to see much of anything unless they've got an agreement or things have really gone off the rails.
