Undead Anatomy

Rules Questions

ok if u cast Undead Anatomy to change into a ghoul do u hav the ghoul paralysis effect?

the highest spell of the set Undead Anatomy IV gives only the following if the undead your taking it's form has them:

list of abilities:
If the form you assume has any of the following abilities, you gain the listed ability: burrow 60 feet, climb 90 feet, fly 120 feet (good maneuverability), swim 120 feet, blindsense 60 feet, darkvision 90 feet, lifesense 60 feet, low-light vision, scent, tremorsense 60 feet, breath weapon, constrict, DR 10/magic and silver, DR 15/bludgeoning and magic, fast healing 5, fiery death, fire aura, grab, incorporeal, jet, poison, pounce, rake, rend, roar, spikes, trample, trip, and web.

If the creature’s form is incorporeal, the spell’s duration is in rounds per level instead of minutes per level, and your bite and claw (or slam) attacks are incorporeal touch attacks. If the creature has immunity or resistance to any energy types, you gain resistance 30 to those energy types. If the creature has vulnerability to an energy type, you gain that vulnerability. In this form, you gain a +8 bonus on saves against mind-affecting effects, disease, poison, sleep, and stunning. If the form has a vulnerability to an attack (such as sunlight), you gain that vulnerability.

.

paralyzing attack is not one of them.

yea that is the question it doesnt say anything about paralysis and the creature has it?

What zza ni is saying is that because it's not specifically included, you can appropriately conclude that you don't get it.

It can otherwise be stated as "You only get what the spell say you get".

Polymorph: A polymorph spell transforms your physical body to take on the shape of another creature. While these spells make you appear to be the creature, granting you a +10 bonus on Disguise skill checks, they do not grant you all of the abilities and powers of the creature. Each polymorph spell allows you to assume the form of a creature of a specific type, granting you a number of bonuses to your ability scores and a bonus to your natural armor. In addition, each polymorph spell can grant you a number of other benefits, including movement types, resistances, and senses. If the form you choose grants these benefits, or a greater ability of the same type, you gain the listed benefit. If the form grants a lesser ability of the same type, you gain the lesser ability instead. Your base speed changes to match that of the form you assume. If the form grants a swim or burrow speed, you maintain the ability to breathe if you are swimming or burrowing. The DC for any of these abilities equals your DC for the polymorph spell used to change you into that form.

Polymorph spells do not actually turn you into a creature, what they do is to alter your body to resemble the creature. Your type still remains that of your original form. Unless the spell specifies otherwise you are not even treated as a creature of the type you assume. Undead Anatomy specifies that you detect as undead, and are affected by channel energy, cure spells and inflict spells, but not for other spells that target undead.

The sole exeption that i know of would be baleful polymorph if the target fail both saves. But that only allow a shape of a small or smaller animel with base hd of 1. And changing out of it is a problem to non shapshifters.

Still don't think you count as the shaped creature but you get all it's special abilities.

Since Baleful Polymorph states in the description you gain the special abilities, it is actually not an exception. The spell also specifies you take the form of a small animal. As far as I know there are no animals with supernatural abilities. You also only gain the special abilities on a failed will save. So, if you fail the fortitude spell and make the will save you don’t actually gain anything that beast shape cannot grant you.
