Pistoleros can't dual-wield pistols and use their signature Reload ability

Rules Discussion

The pistolero seems to be intended for dual-wielding pistols, as the illustration of the pistolero pictures her doing just that. But her Slinger's Reload ability, Raconteur's Reload, does not make a provision for not having a free hand. (The Drifter's special reload does.) It looks like a dual-wielding pistolero needs to take the Level 1 class feat Dual-Weapon Reload, to be able to reload while wielding two pistols. But this is its own Action; it cannot be combined with Raconteur's Reload.

Is my reading correct? And is this intended?

You're completely correct and as far as I can tell it's intended, yeah.

First release, "Wuh? Who'd want their main shtick to be juggling?"

Now, "Dang, that Juggler's broken!"

Is there something I don't know as to why it's intended? The Drifter reload ability lets them do their signature reload while dual wielding. Would it be overpowered to allow it for the Pistolero?

(I suppose the Pistolero can have a repeating weapon in one hand, but the repeating firearms seem a bit weak.)

I don't think it would be overpowered, As for why it's more like... the reload ability doesn't have anything implying it's meant to make an exception to how many hands you need and dual-weapon reload is a separate feat. So I don't see any reason to assume it isn't meant to work the way it does.

Man, I was looking for confirmation on this. There is any date set for erratas after a book is published? Like, a month or two?

Usually they coincide with a new printing of a book, which is whenever the book sells enough copies that a new printing is necessary. Several months, minimum, in most cases.

A pistolero who wields a capacity firearm like a pepperbox or a slide pistol can reload their weapon with a full hand, as long as one of the barrels of the capacity weapon has ammunition in it.

Capacity weapons will work with your slingers reload.

It was confirmed that Capacity weapons work with the slingers reload. So the best way for dual wielding is using pepper Box and or slide pistols.

I was actually pretty iffy about as well because i thought Slingers reload doesnt work with capacity but i think it works rather well now.

I still wish dual weapon reload was different. Its a feat tax that doesnt give you any Real action avantage. I wish it would allow to reload both weapons at the same time, or at least use capacity on both weapons at the same time. Or at the very least be a passive so it works with Slingers reload.

Another way to dual wield (besides going for repeating hand crossbows) is using double barreled pistols. You need dual weapon reload for that, but it would give you 3 turns of using reload and paired shots. After those 3 turns youd hit a wall unfortunately but most combats dont last longer.

Im actually mostly iffed that paired shots only comes online at level 4. Before that there is no real reason to dual wield. I prefer builds to come online as soon as possible, double slice also comes online earlier.

That said paired shots is really really good so dual wielding should be worth it i think.
