Thaumaturge Simulator

Thaumaturge Class

I was looking at Implements and it struck me.

The Lantern gives knowledge and reveals that which isn’t true.

The Chalice nurtures and heals.

The Weapon (which might very well have an Edge) involves battle and struggle.

We have a protective implement, which fits the Heart, and a magically destructive one which fits Forge.

Are the four missing implements by any chance related to the Moth, Winter, Knock and Secrets? Because I would absolutely love that.

I didn't make it that far in Cultist Simulator, but I'd say there's definitely one of the soft-planned ones that would fit well with Secrets.

I suppose I’ll have to homebrew the rest, then.

Out of curiosity, any intended links with the practice of placebomancy (Unsong)?

Is there significance to the term “thrice thrice”. I assume there must be

I guess one of the others will be a Tome. If so and if it gives any boosts recall knowledge then it will become one that I assume all will take as one of the three

No, but after having googled it, it's very similar to a bunch of other things that I was thinking about, like the magical treatises in Secrets of Magic (arcane treatise plowing a path with spells, the occult treatise stories and building connections, primal treatise with a relationship with the world) got me thinking, and then there's fiction and media where stories influence reality such as fey-themed urban fantasy series such as October Daye (which in turn probably had some cross-pollination from Changeling, a game heavily focused on stories where like the targeting modifiers for spells were actor/prop/scene/etc), getting the spirits on your side in Pact by acting with good karma, how areas in Mage have different difficulties of spells based on the prevailing beliefs of the people about what is believable or unbelievable, the power of belief in Planescape, meta-narratives about stories like Practical Guide to Evil (a James Case favorite that he recommended to me), even folklore about presenting something forcefully to ward off vampires and the like. Turns out that the more I researched, the more I found that this kind of Cha-based take on it is out there in almost everything I read for source material (including Pathfinder treatises and lore but no classes yet as explicitly). So I'm really not surprised it fit something I hadn't seen at all, and I think placebomancy would fit right in!

Thrice Three is a not-uncommon advancement of the Rule of Three, pulling the Rule of Three three times increases the power even further.

Bingo! Also, the final implements are currently planned to be thrice three not just nine in total but three sets of three, three active, three reactive, three passive.

Of course you read Pact :P I thought those feats sounded familiar!

What can I say, good work. Time to build one, I have things to try.

Hopefully we get a followup feat to Rule of Three that gives you even crazier bonuses if you manage to keep it going for nine rounds.

How consistent will they be when it comes to needing EA active, benefitting from but not needing EA active, and not caring about EA at all?

Does that mean there won't be any more implements? Ever ? Lol

I would like to reestablish here that I would very much so like to see a religious/spiritual censer and/or oil lamp as an implement. The idea of a Thaumaturge cleansing an area with the smoke and scents produced by such an object is very enticing to me.

You can reasonably do the cleansing lamp style implement with lantern, as it's a broad enough concept, and it also fits the abilities (helps you see and understand, reveals invisible foes, and then reveals the truth and strips away illusions while in the area).

I think there's also room to have some sort of censer as its own Implement down the line, where it can create clouds that have some sort of additional effect.
