What would be a good 3rd character to round out this trio?

Let me set up the stage, you have a trio of 3 adventurers
You have a divine duelist who uses an estoc as their weapon
and a midrange caster who fires off magic bolts
What would you say would be a good 3rd character to round out the team?

Someone to flank with the other melee. Maybe sword and board fighter, but 3/4 BAB could bring more versatility with more access to skills and higher secondary stats.

Is the GM adjusting for 3 players, or are you playing on hard mode?

It would be nice to have someone to cure adverse conditions. I would suggest a high strength reach shaman or an investigator (picking up the Infusion alchemist discovery fairly early). A warpriest or reach cleric is a possibility, but I'd be worried about the low number of skill points.

More an idea i'm working on I've actually got the build thought up right here if you're interested.

Stone or Metal Oracle + barb + the prestige class that combines them.

or an Occultist; who can spec into helping the front but also has a lot of tools.

or someone focused on dirty trick.

That doesn't really give much indication of their capabilities at all. Both of those descriptions could refer to a ton of completely different things.

Ok let me be more specific then.

I made a zealot(Fencer) and a warlock(Boltslinger) vigilante now i wanna see if i can make a magical child vigilante to round out the other 2.

Well, the Summoner spell list is mostly good for supporting others, so that's pretty much all a Magical Child can do, as it's essentially a crippled UnSummoner. You have Vigilante Social Talents to act as the face of the party, but both of the other two also have those. I assume that, since Vigilante is allowed, your campaign will be confined to a single city, so perhaps the Magical Child could lean more heavily on the social abilities than their party mates do. You're a Charisma caster, so your main ability score also supports it.


If you want Shield Slam, you should consider a Thunder and Fang build. If you Thunder and Fang is Feat-expensive, but the ability to wield an Earthbreaker 1 handed is awesome, and you get to bash with the Klar without taking Shield Bash and still get the Shield Bonus to AC.

Also, if you are taking Shield Slam, you should really take Greater Bull Rush and give your allies Attacks of Opportunity. I like achieving that via levels in Inquisitor and also take Paired Opportunist, so I get an Attack of Opportunity for every Bull Rush which is trigger with every Shield Attack.

Dex 15, TWF, Weapon Focus Earthbreaker, Weapon Focus Klar, Str 15, Thunder and Fang... Improved Shield Bash, BAB +6, Shield Slam... Power Attack, Improved Bull Rush, Greater Bull Rush... Paired Opportunist...

That's ten feats, for pretty much one trick.


You don't need Improved Shield Bash, and we're getting more than 1 Trick.

1 trick is the ability to 2 weapon fight with an Earthbreaker and a Shield.

Another trick is the ability to Bull Rush with every Full Attack.

Another trick is giving all your allies Attacks of Opportunity with every Bull Rush.

And yet another Trick is the ability to get AoOs for yourself.

Anyway, the OP is thinking in terms of Shield Slam anyway. I'm just talking about building on what he already wants to do.
