Power Attack question

Rules Discussion

Could someone tell me if Power Attack stacks with a magic weapon? Would you still get the additional damage dice? Thank you!

I don't see a reason that it wouldn't.

Thanks! Somewhat related, is Power Attack worth getting?

There's a topic on that subject, but in general: it's a good option to have, especially vs resistance, but no longer mandatory for melee.

Silver Crusade

I think it is worthwhile Feat to take. It proved useful for one of my PCs when I GMd last Saturday.

Counting Damage Dice
Effects based on a weapon’s number of damage dice include only the weapon’s damage die plus any extra dice from a striking rune. They don’t count extra dice from abilities, critical specialization effects, property runes, weapon traits, or the like.

I think you would get the extra dice.. pg 279 Counting dice..

That rule isn't relevant to the question in this thread.

Maybe I'm just seeing things perhaps it's about the point in Power Attack which says If this Strike hits, you deal an extra die of weapon damage

So it could be relevant. To things like
Fatal
and Forceful

The ancient question wasn't about forceful or fatal. It was about Power Attack and Striking Runes.

Not that it's relevant to the topic at hand, but...

fatal yes, forceful no.

Fatal doesn't count your weapon dice to determine its effect, so all the dice that have their size determined by the weapon are affected by it.

Forceful, however, counts weapon dice to determine its effect, so the counting damage dice rules kick in. The result being the damage dice from the weapon itself and whatever striking rune, but not other sources like Power Attack, are the only ones that count for the bonus.
