Problems to chose weapon. GIANT BARBARIAN MIN - MAX

Advice

I am so hype with this instint. I am creating a Dwarf half-orc that will get biger every time. But I have doubts about how to min-max this concept.

This is the dmg increase of your weapon when u get bigger.
1d4 ➞ 1d6 ➞ 1d8 ➞ 1d10 ➞ 1d12
if the dmg is 1d12 it wont increase more.

I am having problems with the weapon selection. Seems that to optimice it I should have low dmg weapon with really good utility to make it super OP when I increase my size.

¿What is the best weapon that I can use?

Level 1: Size increase 1
Level 6: Size Increase 2
Level 12: Size increase 3

¿Glaive?
¿Falchion?
¿is it completly pointless to have a huge greataxe?

Getting bigger doesn't increase the size of your damage dice.

And also, weapon die can only increase once no matter what(page 279 increasing die size)

You can’t increase your weapon damage die size more than once.

True.

Falchion is the best one, For sure.

You don't increase it AT ALL with giant instinct barb.

Bigger weapons don't do bigger dices in pf2

To make the replies to this thread less of a downer, the bonus damage from wielding a large weapon is represented by the extra rage damage in Titan Mauler. This frees up your weapon choice quite a bit since you don't have to base it on what the fattest damage dice you can get is.

I'm more of a min/maxer than my players, but I pointed out to the gnome barbarian player that because they wanted to wear breastplate, the cost and weight of the over-sized maul at 1st level was pretty oppressive, but a gnomish hooked hammer was manageable and adds some versatility for only slightly less damage. Indeed, the hooked hammer is probably the best over-sized weapon you can get period, at least at 1st level given the standard bulk and money constraints.

For my giant barbarian, I took the bastard sword, because it has half the Bulk of a normal two-handed weapon, yet still gets you d12.

I think there is some potential benefit for giant barbarians wielding reach weapons with the Attack of Opportunity ability.

Especially once you turn huge, you really can threaten a pretty big area.

At the end I took Falchion.
The Sweed and Forcefull trait is really good and it combains well with Dudden Charge and Swipe Barbarian Feats.

Items Falchion (big), Chain armor.

your falchion should be d10, not d12

pf2 doesn't increase your damage die when the weapon gets bigger.

instead you get a bigger bonus on the giant instinct to showcase the "bigger damage"

Increasing Die Size When an effect calls on you to increase the size of your weapon damage dice, instead of using its normal weapon damage dice, use the next larger die, as listed below (so if you were using a d4, you’d use a d6, and so on). If you are already using a d12, the size is already at its maximum. You can’t increase your weapon damage die size more than once.

1d4 ➞ 1d6 ➞ 1d8 ➞ 1d10 ➞ 1d12

Maybe I am missing something, my english is not the best but this is what I read.

yes, if Titan mauler was saying "increse your damage die by 1 step" then that's the chart you would been using.

but it doesn't.

what you quoted basically says "increase the damage die only when an effect says -increase the damage die-"

as an example, look above the Titan mauler at the animal instinct.

it's specialisation ability says "Increase the damage die size for the unarmed attacks
granted by your chosen animal by one step"

that's what you're looking for in order to increase weapon dices in pf2, it's not "automatic" with size upgrade.

Then I will take Dwarf waraxe and the Ancestry feat to use it. I have 1d12 and I can use combat manuvers during fights becouse the weapon is 1hand and 2hands at the same time. Is this right?

yes and no:

it CAN be used both one handed and two handed. It is not "simultaneously" one handed and two handed.

when you have it on one hand, it's 1d8
when you have it in two hands it's 1d12

in order to do maneuvers that require a free hand you need to have it in one hand.

it's a free action to switch from two handed to one handed
it's 1 interact action to switch from one handed to two handed
