Well I'm sure Pulg will miss you. He is about as furry as they come.

Put some pants on.

Hey were not on FAWTL I don't have the nude rule here.

I don't dress this way for fun, y'know.

You dress?

If anyone tells you a knotted rope is DC 5 to climb, it's bullsh*t. I climbed this knotted rope and rang the bell and it certainly did not feel like DC 5. I only got it on my third try. I couldn't even climb it 2 years back when I was urm rounder.

What was your experience through every obstacle? =D

All the crawling/swimming went fine. Carrying a sack of sand around went fine too, as it fit across my shoulders so not a lot of strength was involved.

Obstacles involving upper body strength was hard, but I could manage most with a bit of help (either someone giving me a leg up, or pulling me up at the top)

9 according to this website, which I think is BS, seriously how many ladies can do 20 of guy style push ups, or pull ups for that matter. And if you're bigger of course you can bench more...

I got a push on the inverted wall but it wasn't quite enough for me to get up =( I think there's some technique involved and I think OCR is also about confidence. You need to believe that you can in order to do it.

OK so for the whole climbing shenanigans thing.

My BF and managed to get 2 for the price of 1 tickets to the water theme park, of which one section is a water based obstacle course. Ooooh OK so for the fun part. Jump off ledges? Fine, I can't see anything anyway so hoppity hop I go ^^

Balance beam? Beams quite wide, not a problem.

Two rope crossing

Eh, I know my balance skillz not that leet, so I just grabbed the upper rope, leaned back while keeping my knees bent and feet on lower rope and pulled my way (hand by hand) through the rope. Quite a bit of core work actually.

Cargo net crossing

Did not use the bottom line just slowly hand by hand, leg by leg pull myself across. Also looks easier then it actually is but I managed, the bigger challenge was to put the arch of my foot on the ropes so that it didn't hurt the balls of my feet or the soles.

Then the rope climb:

Took me 3 tries to do it to get to ring the bell, didn't realize how much I relied on the J-hook technique for my rope climbing shenanigans.

There was another obstacle, a cargo net followed by climbing up bouldering style on jugs, on a sloping surface overhanging on water. I managed to get up the cargo net but decided against climbing up the bouldering section as I ran out of energy. Wanted to save some for descent as the idea of falling backwards into a 4m pool didn't quite appeal to me.

No inverted walls for me

You can see all obstacles Here

Monkey bars, great Wall, pipe run, power tower, look quite hard. The rest I think OK?

I'm assuming you did the 6km event?

Not climbing but the FURIOUS cleaning is done. I also managed to stop by the grocery store and pick up a few extras, like carpet cleaner. So now that house smells MUCH better.

Hopefully when Mom comes home, she'll agree. Still need to clean out the sink though from tonight's dinner...

Hmm try calculating it as if you were small size category. I think the last time I did it I had a 13 but I was in better shape then. No one tells you your str bonus can go down if you don't work at it.

I'm also terrible at climbing. I can bench my weight but I can not lift myself for any amount of time.

I don't think so?

Else how did you end up on the fridge?

Yes, I remember everything =)

Bench your weight, oh my I'm envious.

But on a side note I would think even if you bench, squat, overhead press and deadlift, that doesn't mean you can do gymnastics or whatsoever because gymnastics is actually closer to body weight training then free weights and the added muscle mass may actually give you more issues pulling yourself up on things?

I was a lot lighter then.

Yeah I used to be better at a lot of things. I'm getting old.

also jeez that was from over a year ago.

You know now that I think about it I haven't done that much weight in awhile I'll have to check again to see where I'm at. I could do it when I was working at Lowes but this desk job is not nearly as strenuous as loading bags of 80lb concrete into someone's truck. My back feels better however.

I wonder what ever happened to game hamster...

I wish! I sort of mentioned to Mom about dinner and she exploded with "I'm not cooking you dinner tonight or tomorrow!"

So I'm still without dinner that I didn't make for another day...

The Exchange

Eh dinner ain't hard. Going to be preparing myself baked salmon(seasoned with oregano and rosemary) over a bed of asparagus and button mushrooms on Sunday. Figures I could get a cat treat of fish now and then.

Especially since I just deadlifted the bar+20 kg on each side =)

And farmers walked around the gym carrying the 15 kg weight in each hand - took 1 min 30 s. I think how the weight is balanced is very important. I found it easier then 14 kg barbells.

Also on the flip side, I tried to go donate blood yesterday but failed the haemoglobin test(only 12 g/dl instead of the required 12.5g/dl). May need to look into my diet to see if there's anything wrong. I'll say that most of my iron comes from plant sources like pumpkin seeds and spices since I eat about 130g of chicken and maybe 60-90g of pork per day.

Yes when I eat pumpkin seeds I make sure to pair them up with a vitamin C source such as cauliflower, lotus roots or even a kiwi.

Tell me what's in your fridge. I bet I can come up with something.

The Exchange

Tried using this grip on monkey bars and managed to cross them without it being painful. Yay! That means I can train more!

He comments - if rarely - in the FAWTL Discord and I've seen him active a couple of times in Pokemon GO. Otherwise I don't think he's around much.

Mort,

The good news is thanks to me suggesting pork chops, Mom was semi-willing to help with dinner since it would be quick and easy thanks to the fact we had cream of mushroom and left over rice.

Bleh. Can't sleep. So what am I doing? Making a McDonald's run for McNuggets and a Dr. Pepper.

I don't know why, but I picture you sitting on the back of an ATV holding a bag of nuggets and a soda while Ronald McDonald chases after you pleading for you to let him have his food back.

Yay at least you won't be starving =)

On the other hand, we're losing our corporate gym membership so that puts me without a gym. What am I gonna do?!

I'll keep this beautiful image in my head all day! LOL

Mort,

You can do what I do, start your own pet sitting business and convince people to let you walk their dogs. You don't even have to do it that much.

If I want cardio, it's not hard. There's a hill near my office waiting for me to run up. Me and the hill get along. Exercise is not just about cardio, if you really want to get that six pack, you need to pair it up with strength training and I'm not sure if I will be determined to push myself if I'm doing bodyweight. Since I have been trying to pistol squat for a while but still keep relying on the door frame for it.

Anyway you're asking a cat to walk dogs? Lol. I don't particularly get along well with animals.

Mort is giving all of us fatbeard gamers a bad name with her fitness and stuff. :) We're supposed to be pasty and pudgy nerds living in fear of the outside world or unnecessary physical exertion!

Seriously though, gotta say I admire your drive and dedication, Mort!

Get a suit of plate armour and do your running & jumping in that, Mort. That'll sort you right out.

You don't need to be one or the other. The peeps at nerd fitness can talk hearthstone, Larping, Legend of Zelda, LOTR, Star wars and other nerdy hobbies to the best of them but don't shy away from physical exertion. Well, except running. I think some of them might have gotten too muscular to run =P

Anyway I don't look like much.

When I join new running groups, people eye me over and are surprised I actually CAN run(I don't look particularly slender and have short legs because I AM short).

And PTs in the gym ask if I need any help lifting the bar on the squat rack(psst, I don't, I clean and press that bar with 2.5 kg weight on each side as part of my workout).

Suits of plate armor don't come cheap here, but I suppose I could fill my backpack with water bottles...^^

Ah. I forgot Mort's a cat...and also not that fond of animals. In any case, while I'm not in GREAT shape, I'm probably better off thanks to my ability to walk dogs for fair good amount of time.

Also I can't do weight lifting. I bagged groceries a lot. That was enough.

I'm back. I think I heard that full body weight training (goku style) really isn't that helpful. It's in fact detrimental to the work out process but then surely wearing some full plate around has to have some muscle building effect. Maybe because it's more weight and less time since you wouldn't wear the plate all the time. You got to know those old knights had some powerful calf muscles.

Yeah I'm all about that jack of all trades stuff. I know a little about most gamer and nerd culture that's out their while also being some what socially adept and physically capable. I spread my stat points out.

I'm admittedly just lazy. I actually had this exact conversation with one of my NWN players on Discord.

As I told him, I'm generally lazy and averse to exercise and effort, which is why I play Pokemon GO, it's essentially tricking myself into going for hour-long walks.

MMM made one of my favorites. Brought some for lunch. still almost as good.
Lemon garlic chicken with red potatoes and arugula. Pretty easy Super tasty.

That's the second time in as many minutes I've seen a reference made to arugula. Weird.

I've had days like that where the whole day seems to have a theme. (once it was clowns that was a weird day.) It use to make me think I was on a show like the Truman show but then realized my life would be way too boring to televise.

Mine, too. But 30-35 years ago things might have been a bit more entertaining...lol

Like I've had exciting parts but hardly enough to make that many seasons of. I could maybe write a small book at best.

You writing a book? Now that's riveting television.
