I figured I'd make a new thread before I accidentally take over the boon trading thread.
Rising Star (Slotless Boon)
Your work in rebuilding the Starfinder Society is known throughout the galaxy.
Prerequisites: Second Seeker (Luwazi Elsebo) Tier 4
Cost: 4 Fame
Benefit: When you select this boon, it does not apply to your current character. Instead, select one of your Starfinder Society characters with 0 XP. That character begins play with 5 Fame to spend on purchases and no longer pays additional Fame for purchases in Near Space, and pays only 3 additional Fame for purchases made in the Vast (instead of 5). That character gains an additional 5 Fame once they reach 20 Reputation with any one faction.
In addition to the benefits of this boon, once you purchase this capstone boon, you are encouraged to send an e-mail to organizedplay@paizo.com with a subject line of “Second Seekers Rising Star.” Include your character’s race, class, name, character number, and a description of 75 words or less in the body of the e-mail. That character is entered into a drawing to become a future in-world Venture-Captain, member of the Forum, or even the First Seeker.
I, personally(and I know other people won't feel the same), am not a fan of the fact that as it is right now only Second Seekers can become Venture Captains and forum members. First seekers I can partly understand. As far as I can tell, the only way to potentially advance in the society is to take the capstone boon for Second Seekers(luwazi elsebo). Other characters can give a single new recruit some kind of benefit(yes it can be more than one recruit but it's still limited to new recruits).
I think it's weird that the forum can only be second seekers. As if the first seeker is surrounding themself with yesmen, with no input from the other factions.
Other faction venture captains would be really interesting; Wayfinder and Exoguardian venture captains working together supervising the construction of the expanded society fleet. A wayfinder venture captain on an orbital platform in charge of watching a developing culture. A dataphile venture captain known for corporate espionage and another currently in charge of the uploading of information from an alien library. An acqusitives venture captain protecting a trade route or giving the missions to create trade deals(like in 'a night in nightarch') etc
It just feels a little strange to me.

Its a matter of priorities.
While your Acquisitives member is out making fat stacks of cash the Second Seeker is doing all the work necessary to rebuild the society from the ground up. When its time to dole out promotions your Acquisitives member has money and influence but my Second Seeker has been playing politics this whole time and has the election all sewn up.

I think you're missing the point.
The in-game benefit of this capstone is starting a new character with 5 fame who gains an addition 5 fame once it achieves 20 Reputation.
Also, at some point in the future, PFS will hold a drawing and that one character will be assigned a title/role in in-game lore out of all the entries. Or maybe they'll do one every year or two. That doesn't mean other NPCs from other factions aren't achieving these kind of success.

No, I completely understand the primary purpose of the boon. I'm just saying the secondary part is cooler but is basically saying "only 1/5th of our audience may buy a ticket in this raffle, because nyeh to the others". Yes I realize a player can have a character in second seekers as well go that far, but that character might be less suited on a personality front than another who just so happens to not be a second seeker.

. . . but is basically saying "only 1/5th of our audience may buy a ticket in this raffle, because nyeh to the others".
But we knew from the very beginning that was the route to becoming a possible leader of the Society. It’s not “only 1/5th can buy.” It’s “any number can enter the raffle, but if you do you can’t also get a free Starship.”
If that’s your goal, that’s the path you take. If you think your character would make a great First Seeker, buy a Faction Champion: Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo) boon and get to earning rep!
I do appreciate titling this thread as “whining” :)

I honestly thought about Second Seekers for Charli, so that I could make her Venture Captain Charli, but then decided that she would rather be out in the field greeting new races rather than at a desk giving out assignments and adventure to others.
Your character will be important to Starfinder Society no matter what faction they are. Rising Star is nice, but it's a lottery. Most Rising Stars will not get their characters listed in canon. However, there are other ways to be memorable -- like your upcoming character logs!

The second part about the e-mail, which is not a benefit of the boon, applies to the character purchasing the capstone.
However, there's nothing saying that you couldn't have acheived Tier 4 in Acqusitives and then Tier 4 in Second Seekers. Unlike Pathfinder, you don't belong exclusively to any faction.

You're reading things into my statement. Tiers are only related to capstones by opening the option to purchase. Being Tier 4 doesn't prevent you from being Tier 4 in a second faction or purchasing the later faction's capstone. The point was, you can be famous among one faction and still earn the reputation to purchase the Second Seeker (LE)'s capstone.

♫ Lately we've been, we've been working hard
Dreaming about the things that we could be
Rescuing the lost of the Scoured Stars
'Cause Luwazi's called us
To be Rising Stars
Yeah, we'll be Rising Stars
I see this life
Like a shooting ship
Cross the vast through the drift
In our hearts, seeking signs
Seek them out and we shall find
Forcefields limned in gold
The answers if we're bold
And the lost ones as foretold
Us united like days of old
Sometimes it's the right fight
The quest for belonging
Knowing where we went wrong
Now doing the right thing
To the sky, the sky, the sky
Everything that threatens makes us feel alive
Lately we've been, we've been working hard

And we flip and burn
Our ships torque and turn
Hope is a four letter word
We take the risks

Heh. Not trying to silence you at all, my friend.
At some point, I'd like to see a high-level boon -- either tied to a faction-neutral tier reward in the guide or a scenario chronicle reward -- that will let you acquire the title of Venture Captain for a high level character. It would be fun for some characters to achieve VC status even if they are never named in official canon.
Hmm
