Greetings, Starfinders!

Now that replays are available and functional, the Boon Store is in what I consider to be its fully realized state. Obviously there are technical changes and improvements that are in the queue, but from an available content standpoint, everything I imagined to be available is now available. But that's just my imagination.

This thread is to suggest additional content for the Boon Store. As it is an official thread, I'm setting some restrictions below to keep things on topic, but in short: if there's something you'd like to see in the Boon Store, drop a suggestion here! If you like a suggestion, Favorite it; if you dislike it, just don't respond to it.

Thread Rules

  • 1. I reserve the right to remove posts from this thread at any time. I reserve the right to add rules and make them apply retroactively at any time.
  • 2. If you like a suggestion someone has made, Favorite that post rather than creating a new post just to say "I agree!"
  • 3. If you dislike a suggestion or think it's unlikely to be granted, simply do not respond to it.
  • 4. The OP team will not be creating brand-new rules content except in special cases. Suggesting "a boon for a better timewarping spell" will go nowhere.
  • 5. The OP team will entertain suggestions to unlock existing content, or to create boons for non-rules options (e.g. a boon that gives you a pet corgi with no game effect).
  • 6. Try to keep posts to one or two requests at most; if you list every single species you want in one post and it gets a bunch of favorites, we'll have no idea which ones people are reacting to.
  • 7. In most cases we will not respond to specific posts. This isn't a sign that we haven't read them! We're all very busy and if we have to respond to every post with a "yes/no/other" we'll never get anything else done.
  • 8. Non-boon suggestions or requests will be deleted. This applies to requests for changes to program rules, clarification on game rules or technical updates to the store (but is not limited to this list).

Here are some examples of good posts to make!

Can we please have a boon to access the Space Goblin species/ancestry?
A possible way to do this would be similar to the 2 boons System Traveler Ratfolk or Android, where the player must have enough ACP from PFS2E to bring forth a Space Goblin.

A completely custom starship for a PC. Built from a general frame. Or the right to create a new ship line. I'm looking at all the "normal" Starfinder ships and they all have a weakness. AS a thought experiment I designed a very nice ship that was better at all tiers and used only the stuff from the Core Rulebook (I did access the Starship Operations Manual but only for the full rules on construction).

An ACP boon that would allow you to play a PF class, upgraded to Starfinder. Call it some sort of divine boon (Such as a Paladin or Warpriest) or people released from cryostasis from one of those vaults (Rogue, Ranger, magus). Maybe some temporal effect from a crazy time mage (Summoner, wizard, sorcerer) I know not all of them would be thematically possible, but it would be nice to actually play a space Paladin.

An ACP boon that allows you to take a specific feat a second time, or creates an improved version of a feat (Connection inkling, for example). Maybe through training, devotion or just plain stubbornness, you unlock some esoteric secret that allows you to do something special.

A boon that allows you to transfer a character from PFS (1 or 2) to SFS. Class converted to a SFS class, and maybe a max level. But otherwise cool.

1) Vulkarisu, how can you not!
2) Nelentu (while the a la carte version of entu symbiote is too flexible for SFS it should be fairly simple to make a set version of it for SFS use that is only everyone's favorite fungal bats. Especially if entu colony can be purchased or a sentient gas cloud (thyr) is always available now)

A Starship boon that would allow a PC to install a Training Interface Module into their starship for a scenario.

Even if the list of allowed options were curated, it could go a long way to making a PC feel like their character build and choices matter to starship combats beyond just their skill ranks.

Transferrence of all the "simple" charity/GM boons from the paper boon days over into ACP.

I'm talking 0-level scaling, among others. Which tbh should just be a standard rule or low cost, since its actually undertuned and doesn't unbalance the game, but all those old boons in general.

This, but with a small benefit: When Slotted (starship slot, I would assume) every player can choose lounge or entertain downtime abilities to utilize on the first day after any starship travel.

Other downtime options accepted as well, but restricting the list to those that fit the flavor would be appropriate

Continuing the Musical Theme, I would love to see a boon for the Melophile Mystic connection.

Having played one in a home game, I can cheerfully say that it does not outshine an envoy with Get 'Em, in part because the Song of the Spheres is a limited resource that requires the expenditure of spell slots or resolve while Get 'Em just requires a move action.

Another Mystic that I would love to see as an ACP boon would be access to the Shaper Mystic connection (and not just because I wrote that one.)

I wrote the Shaper Mystic with Society play in mind, and was always sad that it did not receive legalization.

Starship Combat
The Shaper Mystic is a mystic with a built-in primary starship skill (yes, I know Mysticism can be used in Starship Combat, but the main Starship abilities that are required in every combat are Gunnery, Piloting and Engineering. Without the Mystic Gunnery boon (which I also hope to see become available) most mystics are limited to the Magic Officer role, and it's best for teams if you can fill more than one Starship role.

Shape Matter
I suspect that the main reason it did not get legalized was its shape matter ability. But the Gadgeteer Operative is legal, and gets a similar ability one level earlier. If the boon stated that Shaper Mystics can only create temporary items or consumables from existing items, I think that would make any concerns about wealth imbalance disappear. Or conversely, take away the ability to reshape existing items, and make it so that Shaper Mystics have to bring along UPBs for all their Matter Shaping.

I would like the Broad Arc boon available via ACP.

Broad Arc Upgrade:

"You have aquired the technical blueprints to modify one of the weapons onboard your ship to incorporate a broader arc.
Benefit: When this boon is slotted, select one weapon onboard your starship. This weapon gains the broad arc weapon special property (Starfinder Core Rulebook 304) if it did not already possess this property. This weapon takes a –3 penalty to fire in adjacent arcs rather than the standard –2 due to the nature of this modification. If the modified weapon already has the broad arc weapon special property, then reduce the penalty to firing in adjacent arcs by 1. This boon can be used to improve weapons gained as a result of other Starship boons."

I would like the Hauler-Bot 6000 boon available via ACP.

Hauler-Bot 6000:

"Adventurers across the Pact Worlds frequently employ small robots to assist them with mundane tasks. A ubiquitous design, the Hauler-Bot 6000 is a trashcan-sized machine that possesses an internal flight mechanism and little else. The robot’s primary function is to store equipment for those it serves, while some have been modified to include rudimentary personalities.
Benefit: The Hauler-Bot 6000 accompanies you on your mission. The robot takes no active part in the scenario beyond carrying extra materials, and it does not occupy a space in combat. It can hold up to 6 bulk worth of equipment or other items and can levitate up to fifteen feet off the ground. The Hauler-Bot 6000’s basic programming allows for easy sorting of gear to quickly shuffle what you’re looking for toward the front of the storage compartment, so retrieving an item takes only a move action. You can install a computer onto the Hauler-Bot 6000, which can be used to store important data, or even impart the robot with a personality subroutine that you determine."

Or perhaps we could show some love to all our low level soldiers out there with their preciously few skill points and a desperate need to fund new doshko's, maybe something similar to allow Athletics or for laborer?

Space Goblin was available as a charity boon for GenCon 2021.

As one of the holders of that charity boon currently terrorizing GM's with a fearless Space Gobo, I wouldn't take any offense to treating it like the skittermander boon when they became legal. Let it grant a +2 to a stat and then make space goblins available through ACP.

I know the legendary exploits of the Mop Goblin Incident were spread further than just our game table at Origins. I'd love to start hearing more tales of Goblin inspired shenanigans amongst the stars.

I'd also like to see a boon that can remove previous negative "boons" from scenarios. Seriously, it's been over five years now. I'm sure someone could have removed that aggressive adware by now.

If possible, I'd like to see this at two levels. The lesser (and less expensive) version removes the boon in its entirety (lose the adware, but also the music files). The greater (and therefore more expensive) version removes the negative side effects, while letting you keep the benefits (remove the adware but keep the music files).

I would like a Boon that opens up "Homeworld" to worlds beyond Pact Worlds/Near Space/Veskarium.

It's a small thing, I know, but if you were to unlock Ghibrani, for example, as a species, but SFS rules your Ghibrani cannot actually be from Elytrio, because homeworlds in the Vast cannot be chosen. You are an exotic, rarely seen species... but you are from a commonly traveled part of the Galaxy where you are not remotely hidden.

<-=O=->

I would also like to see an alternative or adjustment to the Manifold Host capstone boon. ALL of the other Capstone Boons allow you to apply them to a 0 XP character, so that the thing you put so much effort into using can instead be fully used.

Except for Manifold Host. It only applies to the existing character. So if you faction Manifold Host with any species that doesn't require an Admittance Boon, you get nothing. And if you do earn it on a character that gets to use it, they don't get to use it until roughly level 9, when the character barely has any Society Play options left before they're hanging high and dry.

I would like a version of that Boon which allows us to do it, but for a new 0XP character, so we can actually use personal boons for the first 9 levels of the character.

This is not quite correct. Ghibranis, Morlamaws, Vlakas have homeworlds in the vast and can choose them. Here is the current wording of the current SFS Guide:

SFS Guide #Fill in the Finishing Details wrote:
Home World: This is where your character was raised, and it must be your species' home world, one of the Pact Worlds planets presented in the Core Rulebook, or a populated world presented in the Near Space sourcebook.

Your species' home world is always an option.

★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★

And now a boon request to make this a legal post.

An ACP Version of the Alien Associates Boon

Up to four allies follow you wherever you go.

When you slot this boon, you're accompanied by a group consisting of one or more members from each of the species whose boons you've noted above. You can determine the personality of these NPCs, though they generally keep away from the action and do not actively participate in the adventure, except at noted below. Do not worry about the positions of your associates during combat.

For each ally you bring with you in the above manner, you can perform one of the following actions, once per adventure:

• Your ally provides a one time +2 bonus to a single skill check you perform. You must declare using this ability prior to rolling the check.

• Your ally obfuscates your position on the battlefield, granting you soft cover for one round. You must use this at the start of your combat turn, and it ends at the end of your following turn, but doing so is a free action.

• Your ally says some inspirational words that restores twice your level in Stamina Points. In combat you can use this at any point during your combat turn as a free action.

• Your ally casts a single O-level spell with an effective caster level equal to your level. The spell counts as being cast from your current location, but otherwise does not count as a spell you cast. In combat you can use this at any point during your combat turn as a free action.

★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★

Note: this was an expensive boon in the days of paper boons, because you needed to feed other race boons to it to power it up. So the ACP cost for this one should be high. But I loved this one, because you could bring along your Fight Club, or your Barbershop Quartet, or your Church Ladies Knitting Group and have them do small things to help you.

Not so much a boon, but a lifting of a restriction on them. Can we remove the ban on boons from quest packs? Telling someone, especially someone new, that they can't use any of their boons for a given scenario really isn't a good way to welcome people to Society play.

I'd suggest building on the earlier suggestions for more skills usable for Day Job/Earn Income tests, and tie them in to the factions available in-game. Making them available at Tier 1 with a faction is easily doable by level 2, and reflects that a character might need to learn the ropes before they'll be trusted with administrative tasks. Example ideas:

Calling in Collections [Requires Tier 1 Acquisitive Reputation]: This character may roll Intimidate for Day Job checks.

Armory Inventory Duty [Requires Tier 1 Exo-Guardian Reputation]: This character may roll Athletics for Day Job checks.

Data Entry [Requires Tier 1 Dataphiles Reputation]: This character may roll Computers for Day Job checks.

Agenda Coordination [Requires Tier 1 First Seeker (Any) Reputation]: This character may roll Diplomacy for Day Job checks.

Field Guide [Requires Tier 1 Wayfinders Reputation]: This character may roll Survival for Day Job checks.

Medical Ward Rounds [Requires Tier 1 Advocates Reputation]: This character may roll Medicine for Day Job checks.

Mystical Research [Requires Tier 1 Cognates Reputation]: This character may roll Mysticism for Day Job checks.

Multicultural Accommodations [Requires Tier 1 Manifold Host Reputation]: This character may roll Culture for Day Job checks.

I'd love a way to obtain items up to CL+2 without having to luck out on a chronical sheet. It is frustrating when your Envoy gets access a Heavy Weapon that is their CL+2 on a Chronical Sheet, whereas the best your Soldier encounters are CL-level Small Arms. I'd like to make a request for the Telepathic UI computer upgrade from AA2. Everyone in the Society has a computer, and by the time you get to mid-to-high level, many agents has telepathy, either from the species, or any of the many ways of adding it to your character thereafter. Putting the two together just makes sense, especially for high-magic, high-tech, classes like the technomancer.

(AoN erroneously lists it as Society legal; the AA2 Sanctioning says "All equipment with a listed item level and price is available for play," and the Telepathic UI has no listed item level :C)

Oh, oh, oh - one more! Queen's Meal, from AotS!#3! Honestly even a pared down version of it (Princess's Meal?) that doesn't grant the attack roll penalty and the ACs and Skills bonuses would be great. Really what I'm getting at is, I'd love an item with this bit:

In addition, if you attempt to aid another creature that has also eaten a queen’s meal that day ... if you succeed, the highest result between you and the creature you’re aiding can be used to determine the aided check’s outcome.
Because, as we all know, it is TTRPG LAW that, when one person Aids Another on a skill, the Aid Roll is required to end up being higher than the person making the actual check, no matter what the respective bonuses are :D

Okay Alex, what if, hear me out, you could 'buy' a level up with ACP. I know it sounds crazy at first blush - that's what I thought, when Wei Ji the Learner first suggested it. But, after noodling it around a bit, with some restrictions and rules in place, I think it could serve a useful purpose in the Org Play ecosystem?

PLUS, more recently, all SF1 OP characters now have an expiration date, which sort of makes this more attractive for the next couple years. That comes with two assumptions: first, you're cooking up some kind of "end of an era" SFS1 7-99, where SF1 people could have a final hurrah, last sendoff, for their PCs, a la PFS1 10-98. Second, Spacey-Ps won't be useable in SF2 Org Play. So, there's a bunch of players with loads of Spacey-Ps burning holes in their pockets, who can now use those to experience content they've never been high enough level to play in - go get through the Fleeting Truth Arc or whatever, before SF2 Org Play s8. Also, they can be big shiny high-level heroes, for their (voluntary) heroic deaths, in any presumptive high-tiers, in 7-99?

I would like to third (fourth at this point?) Mystic Gunner. And maybe some other "skill swaps" for starship combat skills
Maybe Athletics for piloting (something like Legend of the Rangers), Medical for Computers/Science Officer, and im sure a few more can be imagined.

The "Season One" Boon, and maybe some new checklist boons for the other seasons. Though those should have a scaling cost similar to "Year of the Scoured Stars"

The corruption boons are not available and need the fame cost to buy off removed

Second Seeker Roheas is not available to players.

And i had suggested elsewhere that the Manifold Host's current capstone (Manifold Host Exemplar: "your Personal boon slot is no longer filled by a species boon") seems inadequate and not fitting for a faction all about friendship. Unlike every other Capstone this one affects the current character, not a new one. By level 7-8 when you qualify for it (assuming you rush) you may not have a spare personal boon. And the Wayfarers Capstone lets a new character do this from level one.
So instead i propose this be changed to a non capstone (maybe even reduce it to tier 3) and introduce a new Capstone- unlock ixtli
