Greetings Internet !
I'm looking for build advice on a character that is a celebrity chef (an Icon obviously); however I cannot think of what class would best fit. As charisma will likely be a significant stat I was thinking Envoy or Solarian but maybe Operative or some other class would be a better fit. For race I was considering Human or Lashunta as I was thinking more of a Nigella Lawson type rather than Chef Elzar from Futurama. So if any of you have an idea of how to build Nigella Lawson in space (or Gordon Ramsay in space; or Anthony Bourdain in space; or Jamie Oliver in space; or Julia Child in space or ....) It would be much appreciated.

If you’re playing anything other than an operative, make sure to take the Skill Focus (profession (chef)) feat, since I don’t believe the envoy specialization offers a boost to cooking (or Life Science, which can also be used to cook).
Make sure this character knows how to use knives. Maybe even have them take Weapon Focus (basic/advanced melee) to reflect this. Heat-based weapons like the Quorlu heat-amp might also be flavorful (ha-ha) for a chef character (flambe your enemies!). Keep in mind that if you are using a Profession check, talk to your GM and see if you can justify using your highest mental stat for the skill roll (Int for professional, by the book chefs, Wisdom because cooking is about attentiveness and intuition, Charisma because cooking, especially for media, requires knowing how to make things presentably).
A solarian is actually an interesting idea, with a solar weapon that looks like a cooking knife or frying pan os quite good, especially with a weapon crystal that adds fire damage.

Solarion, but choose that intelligent Ooze race in the back of AP5. I just love the idea of you chopping stuff with solar weapon and all the food you have eaten visibly floating around inside of you
If your going Ramsey though, you gotta go Half-orc Envoy. Skill focus intimidate, first talent dispiriting taunt

Be a famous traveling chef who discovers new alien cuisine each week?
Sample and reveal the cuisines of numerous undiscovered alien cultures! Test strange alien flora and fauna for their endless flavors!
Then die a gruesome death on inter-system hollows as your face melts because you forgot to run the newly discovered food samples through your chemolyzer and survival straw first.
I'd recommend playing something with a good constitution and Fortitude saves. Also consider Great Fortitude and Improved Great Fortitude feats. Maybe have a diagnostic lozenge implanted to monitor your vitals too. That way, your audience can see a live feed of the Scoville scale rating of that alien pepper you just ingested.
The more I think about it, the more I think an envoy doctor build makes sense.

Could use their solar weapon to chop ingredients. That would at least make for a flashy cooking show.
"And now to dice the vegetables *summoms giant stellar sword and begins to cut food at a scary speed* if you don't have a blade made of pure stellar energy you can get a similar experience with AbdarCorps new molecular cookery knives only 99.99 credits if you order now ("offer void in Eox and Aucturn. AbdarCorp is not liable for grievious bodly harm and death caused by improper use")."

There are just so many options it makes it hard to choose. I like all the ideas presented. I think Celebrity Chef in space is probably a thing i could build 20 - 30 different ways and all of them would be awesome to role play (but probably wouldn't be 'optimized').
That's what i like so much about Starfinder; it's a setting where you can play so many types of characters and so many styles of campaign like you could play a fish out of water character who just made first contact, or an experienced mercenary and you can have campaigns set just on one planet; or a sandbox campaign where you take mercenary missions; or you could be building a colony or so many other things.
On a related note a mystic Icon who travels space with his crew and has painting show where he paints 'happy little stars'. I don't think it's too hard to guess the inspiration on that one.

Envoy fits the flavor better. Just take skill focus profession: chef. You'll get the same +3 as an operative and at level 9 get to add your inspiration die for the highest bonus in the game. You can also flavor the envoy abilities a lot better than the operatives.
Get em "kick it up a notch"
Inspiring boost " eat this you'll feel better"
Don't quit "here have some chicken soup"
Focus : put a chocholate chip cookie on the problem to steer your allies towards it
Hurry/Improved hurry Hand out coffee. Or expresso.
Vesk celebrity chef with a flame thrower?

I love the idea of a Nigella Lawson in space probably you could use your coking skills as a boost to diplomacy / seduction.
""If you would prefer something oozy and sticky to take up to bed with you, well, that's fine by me."

TheGoofyGE3K wrote:"Now the trick to serving humans, is to not serve it to humans"I'm going to put emphasis on Life Science being the stat used to cook actual meals, as well as point out how hilarious it is that you know about various species of alien because of their uses in cooking.
"Why? They can't tell it apart from pork. "

Life Science should play a part for another reason as well, so they know what foodstuffs are safe for the different races. “”Although the Vlara may look like canines, they have no problems eating chocolate.”
I would probably make it with an Envoy, although the other ideas are good as well.
If you were to do it with a Mechanic, it would more likely focus on different cooking utensils and best way to use each. More of an instructional chef, teaching people how to achieve various effects. You might even use Corporate Agent as the theme for that one.
