Survival and knowledge nature would be obvious.
I’m a little concerned that he will lose the boyscout aspect in being a ranger though. There’s almost too much overlap. An investigator may be a better fit. Boy Scouts are big on knowledge and preparation.
Not sure if good is even necessary. It always felt more lawful than good to me.
Edit: just checked and there is a natural philosopher archetype for the investigator in ultimate wilderness that fits this concept pretty well.

You have to define what that means to you.
Is it someone who could live/survive off the land indefinitely?
Is it someone who lives a mostly urban (or suburban) life but enjoys occasional wilderness forays and has respectable skills in that setting?
Is it someone who goes glamping once a year?
Any of the above could fit a concept of 'boy scout' from the perspective of their wilderness skills and abilities. Obviously, they are rather different.
And that is just one simple aspect of a what a boy scout could be.

Well, that is pretty easy then, the nature aspect of 'Boy Scout' for you is probably anyone who has ranks in Survival and Knowledge: Nature and probably doesn't need either to necessarily be a class skill.
Pretty much any class you want can be a Boy Scout.
Their 'Paladins Code' is well defined. Like any alignment question, it could be argued (ad nauseam) but most would consider it a lawful good code. Any character of course can follow a code (paladins are required to, but any character CAN) so your only real limitations are no barbarians or druids (absent archetypes that get around alignment restrictions.)
Of course any good boy scout would avoid a spontaneous casting class. Their motto is "Be Prepared" after all.

As a former boy scout I approve.
Investigator is my suggestion, and the archetypes that were suggested for that seems like a good pick too. You could even go steel hound since boy scouts can learn how to shoot guns too.
Your mutagen (if you take it) can be that special coffee of yours that you never go camping without. You know so much because you've earned ALL the merit badges!
Heal, kn(nature, geography, local), perception, and survival are big skills boys scouts need.
Edit* be sure to dump charisma- if you go dex-based investigator you're a pimply nerd boy scout, if you go strength based you're an annoying jock boy scout that thinks he's hot sh*% but is actually The Worst (tm). That's it, those are the only two types of scouts there are. I know, i was one (the former lol)

Well, its a bit hard to work in but pack rat seems appropriate. So does improvisational equipment.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned it, but Halfling with Well-Prepared sounds pretty fitting. Childlike for the "boy" part.
In any case, the Pathfinder Chronicler prestige class is worth looking at.

Fixed that for you.
