Character creation & playtest adventure part 1

Doomsday Dawn Game Master Feedback

Silver Crusade

my group is running the playtest at my store for D&D nights. I have found the book (physical copy) is way better then starfinders lay out. But is not as good as original Pathfinder Core Rules. I wouldn't touch the class section of the book, the lay out here is perfect. I would change some things like, move the exp and proficiency charts to front beside classes or when making
stats.
make a section for larger or smaller weapon damage by the weapons in
-equipment. have healing potions in equipment with chart for each level of potion and corresponding dice.
-two weapon fighting, i find that the penalty is a little to high. the penalties in PF 1 was good. maybe cutting it so it's just 3 levels of penalty would do it.
-Races, humans are good now. Still find that sub races are popular. My group had 2 humans, 2 dwarfs & 1 elf. there's no real way to limit non human races without nerfs or setting personal limits per groups. Classes, my group had 1 ranger, 1 barbarian & 1 Rouge. The dwarfs were NPCs. The simplicity and speed at which you make a character is fantastic.
Getting new people into Pathfinder will now be easier. The barbarian i find is really strong at 1st level able to deal out a potential 60 Damage or more in a turn. (giant totem & Large sized Swords)

-The Adventure. Not much to say here. Solid first level Adventure. Would make a great starter box adventure. I would like to see a section like in most pre mades that had a box to read to the group, explaining where they are and why they were summoned. This would also cut the section in half for the DM to read before the game begins. Side note, loved the call to swallowtail festival. Had a PTSD moment of the rise of runelords.

Great new edition, this is what pathfinder #1 should have been. A Upgrade of 3.5 into a proper 4th edition(D&D). i will be buying all the books when they come out.

Scarab Sages

There are no tables for different sized weapons because weapon size doesn't affect the damage.

I have no idea what the math was to calculate that a level one barbarian could do 60 damage in a swing, but there is just no way.

It is good that you are enjoying the playtest though, I echo your sentiment that it will be much easier to introduce new players to the game.
