We know what Legendary skills can give you. (I also place Perception in here, though it is separate)
We know what Legendary Saves give you.
But what does Legendary Weapons and Armour give you?
In the midst of the Resonance hullabaloo from the Potency and Potions blog, it occurred to me to ask "Do you need to have Legendary Proficiency to use a Legendary Weapon or Armour?". But I was thinking "Nah... that can't be right. Why gate the best Weapons and Armour to particular classes? (Though if this is the case, I wouldn't be surprised to find that all the martials get Master in Weapons and Armour by level 20)
So if not, what Legendary abilities do the Proficiencies unlock? Are there any clues anywhere?...

From the Potency Blog and the Weapon Blogs:
Legendary Weapons give a +3 Item bonus to hit and can bear a potency rune up to +5 and three special abilities.
Legendary Armor reduced the armor check penalty by 3 and can bear a potency rune up to +5 and three special abilities.
You need legendary craft to make a legendary armor/weapon but I doubt you would need legendary proficiency to wield one as those are relatively rare.
From the Gear Blog:
"Your character has proficiency in shields just like she does with armor, and when using a shield, you use the lower proficiency rank of your armor or shield to calculate your Armor Class."

Cool thanks Bardarok. You Rok.
I thought it'd be odd to limit +5 gear to certain classes. But then the question still stands... What do the Legendary Proficiencies do?Yeah, and I thought I remembered that blog quote from somewhere, but I couldn't recall.

I don't know if they do anything besides a bonus +3. I expect critical specialization is at master rather than legendary similar to how PF2 evasion grants both master reflex proficiency and the old school evasion effeect. They go together.
There are probably some capstone style class feats that have legendary proficiency as a prerequisite though. This is coming late gane when the wizard is learning lvl 10 spells so I bet they are pretty.... Legendary.

15 lvl + 3 proficiency +5 item +5 Str =+28 to hit.
This is correct.
Evidence suggests that a +5 sword at that level will be unusual, but that a stat-boost item will be normal, so the actual number would be more like +6 from Str and +4 from Item...but that still totals +28.

Yeah, I expect more than just the +3. Saves unlock abilities, skills unlock feats. It could go either way. But then again Druids have the 20th Level Hierophants Power capstone which is unlocked by being Legendary in Nature. Which is not being Legendary in Primal Spells, as one would suspect... So I'm guessing it means that the Wiz gets lvl 10 slots through Legendary Arcana skill? So I doubt Legendary Armour or Weapons is a capstone Feat. Probably an ability unlock.
