Gencon Playtest Event Question

With the release of rules at Gencon, if I sign up for the Level 1 adventure playtest can I generate my own character and use that for the session? Or are only pregen characters allowed?

If the Starfinder Quests that were ran last year is a guide, players could not use their own characters until Friday.

I ran the Starfinder Quests exclusively and I think I saw maybe 4 characters that were made. Everyone else used a pregen.

What about for the level 5 events? Are you allowed to create a level 5 character using the playtest rules and play in one of the level 5 events?
