Hi Folks,
We've done our best to address what we anticipate to be popular FAQs for the logistics of the Playtest preorder and fulfillment, however, you may have additional questions not addressed there. Please review the Preorder FAQ and if it does not answer your question, let us know!
If you have general questions about the preorder campaign and its fulfillment, you can ask them in this thread.
If you have questions that contain personal information, please email us at customer.service@paizo.com.
Note: You will have until May 1st to confirm your preorder or make changes. We recommend taking a moment to review your selections and information to ensure everything is correct. You do not need to rush through the process of confirming your preorder at the expense of accuracy.

General Preorder Questions
Q. Why preorder Pathfinder Playtest products?
We will print Pathfinder Playtest products based on preorder demand, and Paizo will not reprint the rulebook or the adventure. Preordering is the best way to ensure that you get what you want.
Q. Are these products included in any subscription?
No. The Pathfinder Playtest products will not be part of any subscription.
Q. Will I be able to order Pathfinder Playtest products from paizo.com after May 1?
The preorder window ends on May 1 so we can determine how many copies we need to print. After that date, we will no longer take preorders for these products. (If we have any copies left after Gen Con in August, we may make them available on paizo.com.) If you want print editions of these products, we strongly urge you to preorder them from paizo.com or your local retailer.
Q. Can I preorder Pathfinder Playtest products elsewhere?
Many retailers are accepting preorders. We have created a preorder form you can print out and take to your local retailer. Be sure to ask your retailer about their preorder policies and follow up with them if you have any questions. Product availability will be limited, and some retailers will stop taking preorders in April, so don’t delay! Please note that while Paizo will print enough copies to cover our distributors' preorders, we have no control over how those distributors handle orders from retailers, or over how retailers handle those orders from customers.
Q. I see that you are working with Amazon.com to ship preorders, and they are also taking preorders themselves. How does that work?
These are entirely separate things.
If you preorder on paizo.com, you are buying from us; we are entirely responsible for ensuring that your order is completed. Amazon’s only involvement in this case is that they are acting as a fulfillment service, using products that Paizo will provide specifically for fulfilling paizo.com preorders.
If you preorder on Amazon.com, you are buying from them; Paizo bears no responsibility for your order. Amazon's own preorders will need to be fulfilled with products they purchase from a book distributor (just like all other Paizo products they sell). While we will print enough to cover their distributor’s preorder with us, we have no ability to ensure that Amazon or their distributor will preorder enough to cover their orders, and we have no control over (or insight into) when Amazon will receive those products, or when they will ship them.
Q. Can I change my mind about my paizo.com preorder?
You can make changes to your preorder via the website until 11:59 PM Pacific Time May 1. If your shipping address or credit card information changes after that date, you’ll need to contact customer service.
Q. When will my credit card be charged?
Paizo will charge your card in late July, shortly before your order is shipped.
Q. Does the Paizo Advantage apply to Pathfinder Playtest products?
A. Yes! When you commit your preorder, if you have the Paizo Advantage (either because you are a Pathfinder Adventure Path subscriber or because you have 4 physical Starfinder subscriptions), that discount will be applied.
Q. Will I get a free PDF if I preorder?
PDF editions of the Pathfinder Playtest products will be available for free on August 2, whether you've preordered or not.
Q. Can I preorder Pathfinder Playtest products as a gift?
No. Gift options are not available for this preorder.
Shipping
Q. Can I combine shipping with subscriptions or other orders?
No. Pathfinder Playtest products cannot be shipped with any other products.
Q. Do you ship outside the US?
Yes. Canadian orders will be shipped from an Amazon.com fulfillment center in Canada; other international orders will be shipped from an Amazon.com fulfillment center in the US. Any customs fees, duties, or taxes are the responsibility of the recipient. Questions regarding a specific country’s fees should be directed to that country's customs office.
Q. What’s the “Amazon Standard Delivery” option?
We are working with Amazon.com for fulfillment because the volume of preorders is going to be very high. As part of this process, Paizo will share pertinent order information with Amazon.com in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Pathfinder Playtest preorders will ship from Amazon.com fulfillment centers in Amazon.com shipping boxes, but these orders will not appear in your Amazon.com order history. Paizo is providing customer service for all preorders—do not contact Amazon.com, as they will be unable to assist you.
Gen Con Pickup
Q. How will Gen Con pickup work?
If you select Gen Con pickup, we’ll send you an email closer to the start of the convention with all the details. Note that when you select Gen Con pickup, you will not be charged shipping, but you will be charged Indiana state sales tax. Choosing Gen Con pickup does not give you access to Gen Con; you can purchase tickets at gencon.com.
Q. Do I have to preorder to purchase Pathfinder Playtest products at Gen Con?
We will have copies available for general sale, but we may run out. We strongly recommend preordering to make sure you don’t miss out.
Vic indicated that's on the list of things to be fixed. In the meantime, if you need to make a change, you can just click through the playtest page and go back to step one (the choose products button) or whichever step you need to amend. If you then "resend your confirmation email" you'll see that any changes will have been incorporated.

Since shipping is different for this pre-order (being via Amazon due to the expected volume) what will happen for those of us that set our order pick up at Gen Con, and then for whatever reason we are unable to make it to Gen Con?
In the past whatever was set for Gen Con pickup but wasn't actually picked up at Gen Con got mailed out after the show, is that still the case here, given the different shipping method?

So, it's impossible to order these.
I click on the add to my shopping cart and nothing happens and then the button disappears.
There’s something screwy with the links at the moment.
You can complete the preorder process by following this link.

Hello James and Elfteroh,
I see the Amazon Delivery Service option for both of you. I have set that and you should be able to see it on your end. To select the different options you need to push the Change Shipping Details button on the shipping tab.
Thanks! I did that before, but the option wasn't there! But it works now, thank you! :D

I preordered some things of the Playtest before checking with my FLGS.
Thanks to my FLGS in Austria I now could preorder the Playtest through them (at no shipping cost), which makes the preorder I made here redundant.
I tried (and successfully?) canceled the items I preordered, but now I got a funny confirmation email that says:
Subtotoal (0 items) $0.00
Order Total $26.46
Can someone please check this thing?
That seems like the shipping cost still being in the system somehow, even though the Shipping Method is now (for some reason) listed as Convention Pickup...
Strange things...

I've "cancelled" my pre-order #4781378 (shifted the order over to Amazon, directly, so that I get my free Prime shipping), changing the shipping method (for no products) to GenCon Pickup... but my re-confirmation still shows a $15.53 (the original shipping fee) balance still pending. Will that zero out when orders actually process?

In regards to the softcover edition of the play test materials. Will the softcover be sized like the softcover editions or “pocket sized” 1e books?
it will be normal sized, not pocket.

Since it is still not possible to select anything but GenCon pickup, can we have a proxy pick it up for us?
Alternately, can we CHANGE our delivery options AFTER the deadline?
Go ahead and submit the order and we will get it worked out to ship to you and not have it set for Gen Con.
