Paladin archetype Vindictive Bastard alignment requirement

Rules Questions

Is a Vindictive Bastard from the Antihero Handbook still required to be LG? Changing alignments is one of the ways to become an Ex-Paladin, but unlike the Ex-Druid archetype which calls out an alignment change, there is no such wording for the Vindictive Bastard. So, what is RAW and what is RAI? My reading would be that a Vindictive Bastard is no longer required to be LG.

I guess this could also go for the Ex-Monk archetype whether they have to remain Lawful.

I feel both are it's fine to be a CG vindictive paladin.

I would go with saying that the Vindictive Bastard has no particular alignment requirement since there isn't one for the ex-paladin (since changing alignment is just one of the ways for a paladin to fall).

The ex-druid archetype has an alignment requirement that basically forces the character to change alignment to one prohibited to a standard druid. Alignment would not be mentioned if this archetype was open to any ex-druid of any alignment.

I feel like a Vindictive Bastard can be any alignment, it just requires that you be an ex-paladin (which you can do by switching to a non-LG alignment, or by staying LG and committing some other violation of your code).

I agree.

As further evidence, consider the anti-paladin alternate class, which does have an alignment restriction explicitly called out. I think if you just like punching bad people more than you like obeying the rules, you could easily become a CG vindictive bastard.

And really, who could blame you? I mean... punching people... rules... it's not much contest really.
