I wanted to study Medicine, but the year I finished my studies the marks for entering the Public University in Santiago were very high and I couldn't even though I was a good student.
So I started studying Biology, but I didn't feel like studying after my mother died some months ago. So I lost interest and spent some years doing nothing at university until I decided to quit and study to be a Lab Technician.
Best decision ever. And I got so high marks in my studies as a Lab Tech that I can access to study Medicine in whichever university I want.
If someday I have the money to do it I still want to study Medicine in a future. I'd probably stay at a lab because I really like it but I'd love to be able to participate in Investigation as most of the Doctors and Biologists on my work place do.

We are told that studying a career is the best thing we can do, but that's not true for everybody. I am glad with my life as it is and I regret nothing because it has made me as I am today. I lost a lot of opportunities so I could care for my grandparents, but jobs will always be there and my grandparents won't.
Another topic: I'm at the mart and I want yell at a woman for buying cheap wine in a brick. Wine in a brick shouldn't even be a thing! For 50cents more she could be buying a decent white wine that didn't ruin her dishes!
I can be so snobbish at times xD

Your Spanish, a land of quite fine wines, so I think your are in the clear for being quality conscious. As for wine bricks, I can take them or leave them, although I prefer a glass bottle for aesthetic (and snobbish) reasons :-) .
Speaking of which, I think I have a nice Rioja in a cupboard somewhere...

Rioja is a good wine. Just because it's from Galicia and for staying local, I like Ribeiro and Mencía better. As a white wine I usually use Albariño which is also a local variety.
But in La Rioja they have very good wine too, I have to admit it.
As a fun fact I don't like wine a lot, just for cooking. But I can appreciate the difference between good wines and bad wines.

I have to take a look, next time I'm at ye old Wine-merchant, to see if I can find any Galician wines, sounds like its worth a try.
Now I think I'll be going, I should have taken a bath an hour ago, and I getting a bit tried of smelling like a mix of horse sweat and blood. Might be some time, before I get back on the tread, as we are gaming tonight.
So see you later you little minxy changeling.

So, it's the same as with cattle (someone had to help my dad and the elderly vet, and I was the only one stupid enough not to pretend to sleep in, which is always why I got to help when butchering season rolled around).
When that time rolled around for us I didn't get the excuse to sleep in. It was up and at it whether I wanted to or not.

I have 7 brothers, so my parents could be choosy if they wanted. :-)

The person in order 66 that talked about the lack of medical insurance really gave me the creeps. It's a sensitive topic for me as I've seen my government trying to deliberately destroy our wonderful public healthcare to their own benefits. I work in a public hospital and that worries me a lot, not just because it affects me as a worker but because I've always thought that education and healthcare are the pillars of society.

I think it was accidental and I am not flagging. It just touched a soft spot.
My father was being treated by his private insurance because of some serious health issues he has. They knew he had internal bleeding but couldn't find where it was.
So they said they couldn't do more. He went into public healthcare and asked them to make a further exploration so he was interned that day. Next day he started vomiting blood. More than 1 liter of blood. If he hadn't been already at a hospital he would have died while waiting for an ambulance.
Now he is much better. He had an splenectony and many other surgeries. Public healthcare paid for everything.

Not that I am OK with it, I think it is a bad taste joke and it gives me the creeps. Unfortunately there are too many people in our world who'd be dying of treatable diseases because they cannot afford to undergo treatment.
Those who know me probably know that I love Medicine with a passion and that was just too much for me. Sensitive topic and an awful wording by the side of the poster.
But I don't know that person so I don't think there is a reason for harassing.
I could take something as personal if it was said by someone who knows me or that I care about but this is not the case. I'm not giving it more relevance than it has.

Back to food (we all came here to talk about food and we know xD), yesterday I had a lot of meat unused, some of them small cuts, so today I have made it into ground beef and making homemade burgers.
I seasoned the beef with some cream cheese (just a little bit), black pepper, and fine herbs: parsley, chive and tarragon.
I hadn't made burgers since a couple of weeks ago and I really wanted to.

Yes, we have.

I'm thinking a BBQ this weekend. I'm in the mood for some grilled chicken and maybe some nice grilled vegetables
I usually just marinade.
This recipe is close , but I'd toss in some rosemary as well.

A bit iffy about the cream cheese (personal preference, add it if its your thing of cause), but rest makes my mouth water.
