Couldn't really find much discussion on this feat, so...
At least with my reading, this essentially means "you can rid yourself of the "moral" dilemmas of mental control with Enchantment and raising the dead with Necromancy, permanently, in return for getting +1 spell / level, for a feat".
Does this make the Thassilonian Specialist more palatable to any of you? To me, at least, it seems like with the limitations on not being able to specialise in subschools, Transmutation comes across as the clear winner with this, being able to actually cast Illusion spells, and in return being like, a sorcerer+ with spells for days.
Gluttony (Necromancy): Prohibited Schools: abjuration, enchantment.
Greed (Transmutation): Prohibited Schools: enchantment, illusion.
Lust (Enchantment): Prohibited Schools: necromancy, transmutation.
Pride (Illusion): Prohibited Schools: conjuration, transmutation.
Sloth (Conjuration): Prohibited Schools: evocation, illusion.
Wrath (Evocation): Prohibited Schools: abjuration, conjuration.

I play a Gluttony wizard in PFS right now and he's fun. Having so many Necromancy spells in my slots pushes me to look beyond the usual choices and there are quite a few fun spells. I just got to level 5, and all signs point to Howling Agony being a real crowd pleaser.
I get the feeling that having abjuration banned is really going to bite me in the aspis later down the road, but that's all the more reason to get creative with what I do have.

Erm, what feat are we talking about? Because Thassilonian Specialist only grants one addition spell in your school slot per level, which must be the same spell as your regular school slot.
Also, it's less that you're "ridding yourself of a moral dilemma", you are academically-excising the magical antitheses of your chosen school, allowing you to hyperfocus at the cost of being completely unable to cast two schools of magic with Use Magic Device.

Pardon me for not supplying the feat! It's from Paths of the Righteous:
New Thassilonian Magic
You use Thassilonian magic in a nontraditional way that preserves the ancient traditions while lifting some of its restrictions.Prerequisites: Thassilonian specialization (Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea Magic 17).
Benefit: You choose one of your two opposition schools. You also gain Thassilonian as a bonus language. If you already speak Thassilonian, you gain one of the following languages as a bonus language instead: Aklo, Azlanti, Giant, Shoanti, or Varisian.
I'm not unfamiliar with what the T. Spec does, I'm more wondering what possibilities that the community sees with the opportunities offered by this feat + archetype :) (the whole "ridding yourself from moral dilemmas" thought is just me "justifying" why giving up Enchantment and Necromancy might not be that painful by comparison, from a roleplay perspective)

Thassilonian Specialist is an archetype for wizards out of Inner Sea Magic.
Normally, a Thassilonian Specialist chooses their school of magic, and gets a second school slot at each level for spells (though, the two school slots have to be used to prepare the same spell). The cost is that you have two opposed schools that are now forbidden schools that you cannot use at all, and the spells from those schools are not on your lists. You also cannot choose those schools, they are decided for you by your choice of school you use, as in the original post.
The feat, New Thassilonian Magic, gives you more flexibility as a Thassilonian Specialist, in that you can choose one of your forbidden schools, and you get a bonus language.
