Some more observations, for those interested.
My plan is to release monsters Monday, starting in the afternoon (Eastern time). I have a vet appointment at 11:30 and will start the reveals when I return home.

I am deeply saddened that my life was so complicated these days that I could not take part in this contest :-(
Know though that it did give me some design ideas, for which I humbly thank you
When I have more time and serenity, I will fully stat and post on Blazing 9 my CG Stellar Larva, which also had two Sizes BTW. I am really interested in seeing the 2-Sizes creature that was submitted :-)

Yeah. I was just gonna say "yup" for my comments, or maybe "keep" if I was feeling inspired. Now I feel like I have to get all literate and stuff. Or really stretch to find something to say that you haven't already said.
...
Oh wait, I'm setting up the pages with our comments. I'll just put yours after mine so it looks like I said it first. :)

All right, it's time to let the reveals begin!
We'll start with our first and only contestant to be three for three in Here Be Monster contests, with finalists every year so far ... Joe Kondrak!
The strife wasp by Joe Kondrak.
Take 30 minutes to look it over (and leave comments here, or on the blog) and then come back to find the next contestant!

Finalist No. 2, on the other hand, is making his first appearance among the Here Be Monsters finalists: Matt Roth, with his voidweaver.

I really like the Strife wasp. It all seems to add up to me. It's suitably described and repulsive enough that I think it easy fits in the 'not-of-this-world' category. Possibly a note on their lifespan could be added or how many clutches of eggs might be laid or produced in one wasp's lifetime. That way we could figure out how bad an infestation could be at least for the next cometary go-round.
Not to gang up the Spiteful Glimmer ability, but I tend to agree that copying the murderous command effect doesn't compliment the poison. Perhaps a fear effect or a lesser form of confusion (which does carry the possibility off attacking allies) would work better.
Other than that, I tend to be of the design set that if you want to give a creature Great Fortitude, Iron Will, or Lightning Reflexes you should probably just increase their saves or abilities unless you're going for a prerequisite to another feat. That said, Great Fortitude does work for a creature existing in and around the rigors of space and it's not-conducive-to-life environment. I would probably replace Lightning Reflexes with something to make it a more memorable combatant, either Vital Strike or possibly Lunge (to take advantage of being able to hover and sting creatures from above, out their reach.)
Just my opinion though. Great work and congratulations.

Like Matt, Finalist No. 3 is also in the Top 5 for the first time: Jeremy Corff, with his eon-scarred probe, our only robot of the contest.

Finalist No. 4 is our second contestant making a return appearance in the Top 5 (though technically, Here Be Monsters 2: Hell Breaks Loose had a Top 6): Eric Hindly, who designed the void herald.

And last but certainly not least is our third contestant to have previously made the finals of Here Be Monsters 2, Isaac Volynskiy, creator of the star cinder.

I have a bonus question for stats: How many monsters had fly speeds, and what was the maneuverability distribution?
It looks like we had 15 creatures that had a fly speed (this didn't include creatures with special abilities that gave them starflight or a similar ability).
Of those 15, 6 had perfect maneuverability; 4 had good; 2 average; and 3 clumsy.

And, finally, here's the voting booth so you can decide the winner of Here Be Monsters 3: From Beyond the Stars. As you'll see, everyone gets one vote; you can change your mind by going back to the poll and voting again; only your final vote will be tallied.
---
As noted before, I will give feedback to anyone who wants it whose monster did not make the Top 5. HOWEVER, unless you comment on the finalists' monsters, I will not give you feedback until the winner has been announced (and then it may take me a little time to respond, as my wife will be home from med school and I'll be spending time with her/doing holiday stuff).
Feedback is the lifeblood of a designer, as I suspect you know if you're asking me for some, so please take a little time to give that to the Top 5 (even if you don't want feedback on your monster, please let them know what you think of their creations).
To get feedback, just shoot me an email (motteditor at gmail) and ask. Please be sure to include the name of your monster. If you include the monster in your email, you'll make my life a little easier.

Belabras wrote:Final count of 8 tentacles and 7 eyes.Wild guess about the top 5:
Number of Tentacles: 11
Number of eyes: 15
I demand a recount! The Voidweaver alone has 8 eyes!
Strife Wasp:
Tentacles: 1? (If the tendril counts, I think it does)
Eyes: Normal for wasps? According to a google search, A wasp has two large compound eyes. Each compound eye is made up of thousands of very tiny eyes and each faces in a different direction. A wasp also has three small eyes on the top of the head, but these see only light and dark.. Let's say 2...
Voidweaver:
Tentacles: None (not counting the arachnid limbs)
Eyes: 8
Eon-Scarred Probe:
Tentacles: 3
Eyes: 1
Void Herald:
Tentacles: 4
Eyes: 1
Starcinder:
Tentacles: None
Eyes: 1

Grand Total:
Tentacles: 8
Eyes: 13
