Congrats to everyone in the top 5, and everyone who entered! I look forward to reading all about these beasties!

Wild guess about the top 5:

Number of Tentacles: 11

Number of eyes: 15

Final count of 8 tentacles and 7 eyes.

I demand a recount! The Voidweaver alone has 8 eyes!

Strife Wasp:
Tentacles: 1? (If the tendril counts, I think it does)
Eyes: Normal for wasps? According to a google search, A wasp has two large compound eyes. Each compound eye is made up of thousands of very tiny eyes and each faces in a different direction. A wasp also has three small eyes on the top of the head, but these see only light and dark.. Let's say 2...

Voidweaver:
Tentacles: None (not counting the arachnid limbs)
Eyes: 8

Eon-Scarred Probe:
Tentacles: 3
Eyes: 1

Void Herald:
Tentacles: 4
Eyes: 1

Starcinder:
Tentacles: None
Eyes: 1
---

Grand Total:
Tentacles: 8
Eyes: 13

I stand corrected! I misremembered the Voidweavers many, many eyes....

.
.
So many eyes... always watching...

My comment keeps getting eaten for Void Herald...

EDIT: Actually for all of them.

Are you on a phone? Mine did too. With my laptop I had no issue.

All those 5 are quite neat. 2 rise above the others in my assessment and 1 is in the end better and gets my vote.

Congrats to all finalists and to everyone who participated.

I did not see the 2-Sizes creature among the 5 finalists. If its creator feels like it, please send me a PM so that I can understand how come your critter had 2 Sizes :-)

No, I'm on my laptop. ... Oh, it was a 3rd party cookies thing...

I'm sure it was a swarm. What was confusing was that in their stats post, first they said there were no swarms, but then they edited it to say that there was, in fact, a swarm.

Congratulations to Jeremy Corff, whose eon-scarred probe has won this year's Here Be Monsters contest.

We'll be back next year with a new theme, and hope to see you again all there.

Thanks so much to everyone who voted and all the other contestants. It was a a crowded field of fantastic monsters, any one of which could have been the winner. You folks did great work.

Congratulations, Jeremy! Your eon-scarred probe is excellent, and it fit the theme perfectly. Well done!

Congrats Jeremy! Stellar work!

Is this the part where I admit I wrote my monster in an afternoon, having lost track of time, and it lost to a genuinely better designed monster? Because that totally never happened... ;)

Congratulations, Jeremy! A well-earned victory!

And everyone else, you did a good job. We received a lot of cool monsters, and I think we had an excellent top 5!

Jacob & Mike, we need to start thinking about a theme for HBM4.. Winter monsters? Monsters from a lost continent? Let me think...

Congrats Jeremy!

Since Jeremy is the cover artist for Frozen Gardens: Winter Special and therefore already has a contributor's copy, I will find something else to send in its place.

Maybe that should be our next contest: Pick a theme for Here Be Monsters 4. :) I'm open to suggestions if we want to throw it to the crowd for some early ideas.

I think that's a great idea.

If you want to do plant monsters as a theme I know a publisher that would publish all top five in a special product. And pay the author's of course. -just saying :P
