Well, the deed is done, and it was ridiculously easy: Walked there, walked in, dropped off NobodysWife's ballot, got a sticker, and walked home, all in 14 minutes flat.
The place was a ghost town.
Of course, I live in Barbara Lee's congressional district, so everyone already knows the Democrats are going to win every seat by an 80-20 margin.
But the ballot initiatives were plentiful and important: 6 pages of votes including 17 statewide initiatives and 9 local measures, many of which will have a fundamental impact on quality of life here.
So lots and lots of stuff to vote on for me. Fortunately, I did it weeks ago...

FL: 49% HC / 45% DT, 74.9% of expected total observed
IA: 45% HC / 46% DT, 55.9% of expected total observed
NV: 47% HC / 44% DT, 58.7% of expected total observed
OH: 46% HC / 45% DT, 59.8% of expected total observed

Note: These are not vote counts, but rather merely estimates based on data from early voting, exit polls, demographics, et cetera.
Still not close enough to 'final' to call anything, even if these weren't just estimates. However, the numbers above outperform Clinton's polls by around 2% across the board. Maybe the estimates are off, or there will be a late GOP surge, but as it stands not looking good for Trump.

So went and voted today.
As my personal rule, I do not vote for anyone running unopposed.
If the person can't vote for *themselves* then they have no right to that position in the first place.
They had a sneaky ballot referenda to change the money and funds so that the only use for state highway funds could be... state highway funds.
Subtext: The state has been playing fiscal games for the past forty years trying to keep the state solvent in a spending frenzy with strong resistance to new taxes. This would only serve to restrict the funding to other areas, which would then require... a tax hike... again. This also kicked the *much-needed* issue of an Independent Election Review Board off the ballot, after that initiative gained two and a half *million* VALID signatures.
Can't drink yet, have to go to work.
Did, however, eat some odoriferous food to reflect how bad the choices were.
Hang in there folks.
If you haven't yet, you still have time!

My "no confidence" votes were for local, unopposed candidates. In this case, however, Palpatine might have been a better candidate there as well.
Unfortunately, I heard he was planning on running nationally, opposite Cthulhu, but both dropped as they didn't want to be considered a "lesser evil" for 2016.| captain yesterday |

That's what I miss about the West Coast, all the props and s@~~.
Our ballot barely made it onto the back page, and that was the only measure on there.

I live right next door to my local polling place, and there are enough non-white folks in my area that we could very well be a target for Trump's call for his followers to "watch the polls". The thought has crossed my mind that there's a very real possibility of something happening beyond just vague intimidation, and it's got me a little worried.I suspect it will probably be ok.
I mean... these are people who are afraid of 'others' as a matter of general principle. They aren't likely to go into an area where they are 'outnumbered' by 'those people' and start making trouble.
Now, if Trump had ANY sort of 'ground game' organization which could get like minded groups together to 'watch' polling places en masse... that might have been a different story. However, left on their own, most frightened people aren't going to do anything.
That's the thing, though: my area is still mostly white. The non-white population is big enough to be noticeable, but also not big enough to outnumber the whites. That's why I'm worried.
@Rednal — I actually have no line of sight from where I live, so I would only see anything while I'm there. I'll definitely have my phone with me, though.
I highly doubt there will be trouble. Things have been so quiet, MPR has named every polling station with wait times over an hour. There was a report of someone possibly doing some electioneering in Scott county, but within Minneapolis/St. Paul (and the first ring of suburbs) I would put the chances of anything violent close to zero.

Trump sued a Nevada county registrar for allowing too many people to vote.

Trump sued a Nevada county registrar for allowing too many people to vote.
Already tossed. No rules against continuing to let people into lines during early voting. It's only on election day that you stop letting people into line when the polls close.

Voted.
Had to stand on line! Well... there was one person ahead of me for about 30 seconds... but STILL! This is deep GOP territory. I've never had to 'wait' to vote before.
Same here. Heavily Republican Midwest small town. I have NEVER waited long in any prior election here. Today, the line was over an hour long at 2:30 PM.
I think it's sad that it took Trump to get that many people interested in voting.

The judge was having none of that from the Trump lawyer.

I think an analyst put it well: Trump's team was just laying the groundwork to challenge the Nevada results if they're close. They didn't expect to win this particular suit, they just wanted to make some noise, seed some doubt, and lay the groundwork for a future challenge.
So it was a clever move, rather than a petty one: Choose a few states with irregularities and make a lot of noise in those states.
I'm expecting them to do something in Florida soon. There are all kinds of "irregularities" involving physical altercations there. (Pepper spray, two clerks getting fired and ejected, etc.)
If you have a good campaign staff, you get the ammo to contest the election during the voting, you don't scramble for it afterwards.
EDIT: And seriously, after the Bush/Gore debacle in Florida, any candidate whose team doesn't start contesting close states early and often needs a new team. I've been dubious (at best) about the competence of Trump's team so far this election, but this at least shows the teensiest modicum of knowing what the heck they're doing.

Trump may not know much about campaigning and less about governing, but lawsuits he's got lots of practice with. He's an expert there.

73 percent of Democratic state legislators are endorsing Clinton.
5 percent of Republican state legislators are endorsing Trump.
But that's just proof of how much better he is. The establishment hates him. The establishment loves Clinton.
We all know how the establishment is corrupt and the source of all our problems.</snark>

Oh s%%#.
Apparently not actually at the polling place, so possibly not related. Wouldn't bet on it though.
Very early reports. Evolving situation. No one actually knows what happened yet. Take all reports with a huge grain of salt.

Surprisingly not much of a circle jerk thread.
Then it must be time to get WILD IN THE STREETS!

I voted, and now I'm watching Google's live election map. Interestingly, Texas keeps flip-flopping between red and blue as we approach its final count. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I'd have thought it was a dead lock for red.
Was everything ok where you went? Some polling place across the country have been a bit froggy.

Good to hear you're safe, as well as the other voters in your area.
