Hey, I just booked my room at the Doubletree for PaizoCon 2017 and I'm wondering if anyone has stayed at the Crest Motor Inn across the street.

For six nights at the Doubletree I'm paying $795 but if I choose to go with the Crest Motor Inn -- a significantly less impressive hotel, it's $445 for a standard or $550 for one of their two "nice" rooms.

Has anyone stayed at the Crest Motor Inn during PaizoCon?

Be careful where you stay, SeaTac is not the safest part of Seattle.

I would stay at the Doubletree myself.

You might want to check out the La Quinta. I've had friends stay there for Norwescon with good, safe rooms. Don't know anyone who has stayed at the Crest Motor Inn.

Grand Lodge

LaQuinta is $50 more per night than Doubletree (because we're there for the Con).

Shadow Lodge

Personally I am staying at a hotel 200 meters or so further down the road away from the airport for significantly cheaper, but I am in town for nearly two weeks. Can't remember the name but it is on google maps.

Shadow Lodge

Found it. I am at the Days Inn. Saved $1000 dollars Australian over ten nights

We stayed at the Crest motor inn last year. It was dirty and smelled like smoke. If that doesn't bother you, it's certainly a place to sleep and it's super close. I'm staying at the doubletree this year.

I'm hoping to make it out barring health considerations and budget and will probably do another stay at the 2xTree but also probably going to get a refrigerator in the room and make a food run (spent more on food at the hotel and local restaurants last year than I did on either Paizo merchandise, my 1st-class upgrade for the ride home, etc)

I'd call to check on frig availability. If the room doesn't have one, you have to get there pretty early (like days ahead) to get one of the few available.

We stayed at the Crest Motor Inn last year. The rooms were in poor repair, all of them seem to be smoking rooms (heavy smoking), regardless of whether you ask for no-smoking or not. It was a pit, and seemed to be mostly full of meth heads and low income types (at least one roomful of which was trying to leave without paying) while we were there. I'd advise that you try anywhere else, including sleeping in your car, over the Crest Motor Inn.

Grand Lodge

Got it. Thanks everyone.

(On the other hand, if you're looking to score some meth while you're there, you probably now have a lead.)

We ended up at the La Quinta across the street last year. It's nicer inside than the outside makes it look, plus, free breakfast.

I stayed at coast gateway, last year. Bought my room last minute and paid 100 a night. Breakfast is included. Hoping for a price drop. Really liked the place.

Just piping in on the Hotel thread. I've already booked a room with two Queens(at the Double Tree). It's looking more like my wife won't make it up there for the Con. Anyone interested in splitting the cost of the room might want to PM me. I've got a room with a balcony reserved for the 26th,27th,28th of May (Fri, Sat, Sun) at about $122 a night (after taxes ect..)

Not making promises until I've at least had a phone conversation with a prospective roommate. This would be for a single non-smoking person only (I know they don't allow smoking in the rooms but, I'm an ex-smoker and particularly sensitive to the lingering smell). Oh, not that I'd get a boatload of responses of Swedish bikini models but...no women please.

If your interested, start with a PM and we'll see if we can work something out.

Does anyone know if the doubletree has an email for contact? We're coming early so we can enjoy seattle, and I'd like to enquire if we can book the same room for earlier. But all I can find is telephone numbers, which is hilariously impractical with the 8 hour time difference.

Looking back over my various correspondence with the hotel, I have several different email addresses for the hotel; none of which I believe will help you in your task.

If you went through the link to the hotel in the PaizoCon home page, you should be able to put in a request within the comments field to keep the same room. If not, you might be charged an upgrade fee, $8, if you have a fancier room than the regular con bloc rooms during the actual con dates.

I would do it as the walk from the main con area to your room can be a long one. Let the fine folks behind the counter know you are there early for and thru the convention dates. They should be able to take care of you.

If I recall correctly, there is always at least one person at the front desk as travelers come in at all hours, so it may be less impractical than you think to give them a call.

Here's their main number and like Sara Marie said, there *should* be someone at the desk to answer a call 24/7.

Is that an international number? Or do I need to put something in front of that as I'm calling from europe?

You will still need to apply the US country code.

They also have a fax number - so a quick trip to a library or similar with fax services might be an option.

TEL: +1-206-246-8600
FAX: +1-206-901-5923

And there is a contact us page you could use (be sure to state the correct reservation codes/hotel address) but I don't know how quickly you get responded to.....

I figure this might be the best place to ask this question.

Does anyone know how quickly the hotel might sell out?

I am surprised it hasn't already. Paizo may have increased the number of rooms in the bloc.

Grand Lodge

When I got my tickets and room back in November they were selling out of rooms -- and Paizo then added more. So I would reserve asap.

Thank you both. I'm hoping when the 1st rolls around I will be able to reserve my room if not. I might have to reserve at the Days Inn down the street.

There seems to be some highjinks with the reservations website. I put in a reservation of Thursday to Monday and showed nothing until I unchecked the box and told it to show all. Then I saw a room for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The odd thing is that I called and was able to get the Thursday room that wasn't on the site for the con rate.

Now I'm on hold with CS. I happened to look at last years bill and noticed that they charged me for valet parking for every day of my stay. That's about $120 I'm trying to get back. I'm just mentioning this as a FYI.

I booked my room prior to the convention bloc being released (so maybe that makes a difference) but I wasn't asked to pay any deposit.

Heya! I'm heading down to PaizoCon from Canada to help out in HQ. If anyone is looking for a room mate to reduce your hotel costs, please DM me. I don't smoke or snore, and I'm told I'm thoroughly pleasant. Ideally I plan to be there from Thursday to Tuesday (Thur. night to Mon. night), but any portion of that would be great. Thanks!

Grand Lodge

As we begin to approach PaizoCon next month I am wanting to see if anyone is still looking for a hotel. I have booked already.

So the proposition to you fine folks is this. I have booked a double queen hotel room at the Doubletree by Hilton and I am looking to split the cost 50/50 ($260 each) of the stay. 5/25 through 5/29

Please post here or message me and I can give more details.

Thanks

Just stayed there. I want out. I'm canceling my other 3 nights and trying to find somewhere else to stay while at the con. Not worth it. I wasn't comfortable at all there.

Rooms were 70 a night. But there are other charges. It was 345 for 4 nights.

If you're looking for a roommate to split cost at double tree I'm in
