Be Careful What You Wish For...

Advice

So, I saw the Heart's desire ability when reading up on Ifrits. Basically, Wishcrafter Sorcerers can use someone else's wish as a verbal component for a spell, which boosts the caster level by one. You can force someone to make a wish, and later you give them a penalty to saving throws to make it come true. Then I thought of something fun.

What are all the ways you can think of to twist and subvert people's wishes?

The best I can think of is the spell moonstruck, if they wish to be stronger.

For those people who wish for vast amounts of money, be sure to summon it directly overhead.

This in an archetype I've been waiting for forever!!
Why it's limited to Ifrit, I can't guess.

I really really hope I can play a Wishcrafter in PFS.

It reflects their efreeti heritage, I believe.

You're in luck! The archetype is legal for ifrit - and the Year of the Stolen Storm is the perfect time. ^_^

Either that, or the money teleported in from the lair of a local red dragon who shows up a couple hours later. "Give me back all my gold, or I'll cook you, your friends, and this town up extra crispy!"

FTFY.

We are talking about a Red Dragon after all :3

GM wishes to pervert wish attempts. They do so, with great wit and cleverness and PC tears. However, this triggers a legalese grammar arms race with the PCs, until every wish is multiple pages that take hours, in and out of game, trying to close or abuse loopholes.

On topic, the Poison Elves price of the third sin, any wish is granted via theft of objects or energies from entities that the wisher really didn't want to upset..
Or, the Game of Tenses, any slightly vague indication of time is abused, allowing unacceptable delay of service or shortened duration or time travelling shenanigans..
Or, the Homonym-con, any potential homonym or commonly misunderstood words are taken as inappropriately as possible...

Don't forget the blood price, where any reward is given as a compensation for death(s). Or right before, really. No insurance covers what happens to your directly afterwards. You get a fatal reward... and you get a fatal reward... and YOU get a fatal reward! Everyone gets fatal rewards!

Just finished Curse of the Crimson Throne in which I played an Efreeti Blooded Ifrit Wishcrafter, here are some of the Wishes I've twisted and / or used.

Spoiler:

"I wish this fire would be put out!"
Result: Aqueous Orb

"I wish I could fly!"
Result: Baleful Polymorph into a Chicken.

"I wish I would live forever!"
Result: Flesh to Stone
Defeated [Near End Game Villain] on Round 1 with this one.

"I wish I had love."
Result: Unnatural Lust

"I wish I could retreat!"
Result: Plane Shift

"I wish I was stronger."
Result: Vengeful Outrage against his ally.

"I wish to serve BBEG."
Result: Suggestion to lead us to BBEG.

"I wish you would be quiet!"
Result: Deafness

"I wish everything would be back to normal!"
Result: Greater Dispel Magic

"I wish you would leave me alone!"
Result: Invisibility Sphere

"I wish I could see something exotic."
Result: Summon Monster VI

"I wish I could see my mother one last time."

There were plenty more (and many safe ones from my allies) but I can't recall them.

Baleful polymorph and Bestow curse are great options as they can "fufill" a great many wishes

Don't forget Limited Wish and Shadow Conjuration / Shades / Illusions!

Can you guys find any way to justify granting a wish as Crushing Despair? I'm just feeling a bit evil...

Had an old GM for first ed D&D. Twisted wishes so badly that when we found a ring of wishes everyone was screaming sell it. We never wanted to use a wish because he would screw us with it. No matter how small or simple we got burned time and time again.
