How would you kill Cthulhu?

Advice

Well last night my friends and I made our plan on how we would want to kill Cthulhu. So we made a 7 person party of level 20 PC's with Paizo content only.

We found a way to kill cuthulhu without any character being killed or downed or being turned insane.

What are your thoughts on Killing Cthulhu? What kind of Party would you use? Are their certain items that are just necessary?

P.S. Rules as written I don't think Vorpral weapons are technically death effects so they might work for killing Cthulhu.

Anyhow thoughts?

Torture him to death with Slim Whitman's yodeling. Good enough to work on Martians!

Personally I would rule that Cthulhu falls under the list of creatures that are not affected without their heads.

Vorpal weapons aren't death effects. They do, however, require a critical hit.

"Upon a roll of natural 20 (followed by a successful roll to confirm the critical hit), the weapon severs the opponent's head (if it has one) from its body."

Cthulhu is not immune to critical hits, so that's a point in favour of vorpal. It's also noted that many aberrations are immune to vorpal by virtue of not possessing a head, but Cthulhu very obviously does have one. So there is no problem with that either.

Based on that, I see no reason why a vorpal weapon, on successfully rolling a natural 20 plus a confirmation of the critical hit, would not be able to instantly kill Cthulhu. Do note that it will bring his Immortality into play:

"If Cthulhu is killed, his body immediately fades away into a noxious cloud of otherworldly vapor that fills an area out to his reach. This cloud blocks vision as obscuring mist, but can't be dispersed by any amount of wind. Any creature in this area must succeed at a DC 45 Fortitude save or be nauseated for as long as it remains in the cloud and for an additional 1d10 rounds after it leaves the area. Cthulhu returns to life after 2d6 rounds, manifesting from the cloud and restored to life via true resurrection, but is staggered for 2d6 rounds (nothing can remove this staggered effect). If slain again while he is staggered from this effect, Cthulhu reverts to vapor form again and his essence fades away after 2d6 rounds, returning to his tomb in R'lyeh until he is released again."

Essentially, this means you will have to get him with vorpal blows twice, and it will force his essence to fade and return to his tomb.

But to answer this point, by the rules a vorpal weapon is perfectly capable of killing him.

Other means of course exist. His HP total is low enough that an ubercharger could potentially OHKO him, and of course anybody with enough mythic tiers will easily one-shot him and then go for tea and crumpets afterwards.

I'd tell him about the one about a rabbi and a priest go into a bar!

For maximum style you use a monk, brawler, or champion of Irori.
