What class / archetype / multiclass for this concept(s)?

Advice

Hi, I'd like to create a character who'd primarily be a blaster but also able to hold her own in melee and if possible, serve as a secondary healer.
This character should be functional by 5th level.
for the moment, my ideas are either Occultist or Ancient Lorekeeper, but I'm not really sure they fit. Saves DCs might get bothersome for the Occultist later and the Lorekeeper's going to be light on blasting spells.
Any other ideas?

(Also feel free to use this thread to ask about your own concepts)

If youre allowed to use 3rd party content, Spheres of Power would make any class able to do this easily.

Youd take one of the melee caster classes, then take the Destruction and Life spheres. Grab the Energy Blade talent so you can use your destructive blasts with melee weapons while maintaining the ability to fire them at range.

Sounds like you want a spirit guide oracle. The flame mystery can handle blasting ok, and you can use your spirit for life to get better at healing. Or a battle spirit can be used if you need to be better at melee.

What book is this from?

Can I take both the Spirit Guide and the Ancient Lorekeeper Archetypes?

White Mage Arcanists can spend pool points to heal. It's mostly backup and really inefficient, though.

Water Kineticists with Weapon Finesse, Kinetic Healer, and Kinetic Blade/Kinetic Whip can do what you're describing.

Hydrokineticists can't efficiently do both blasting and melee before 7th/8th level though.

How about a theologian cleric with positive channeling? Medium armor, blasting, and solid back up heal.

Grand Lodge

Um Hydrokineticist with Precise Shot, PBS and Weapon Finesse.

Get Kinetic Blade, Kinetic Healing, Extended Range Take Water Blast

Lvl 5 Melee (Assume 18 Dex/16 Con + 2 Dex Belt) +9 to hit, 3d6+6 damage. Kinetic Blade is free (infusion spec) so full attack is empower for 1.5 x 3d6+6

lvl 5 Range +9 to hit, +10 within 30', 3d6+8, empower with move for 1.5 x 3d6+8

Kinetic Healing he or target can take 5 nonlethal to heal 3d6+8

Also has a floating shield providing 3 AC in addition to +1 mithral chain shirt and +1 ring of protection for an AC of 24.

If you went with a small race you could increase Accuracy and AC without hurting damage.

I think any oracle with a damage-oriented mystery can work if you have decent stats. You might not be great at melee, but "holding your own" is where I would put medium BAB classes with spells or other similar resources. All oracles can spontaneously cast cure or inflict spells, so if you go for cure you are automatically a backup healer as long as you have spells per day left.

Ancient loremaster with the waves mystery is pretty solid imo - you have a couple of good control/damaging effects, and you can use elven arcana to get a few nice cold blasting spells for the freezing spells debuff. It is a powerful ability, but oracles have very few cold spells by default.

There's usually very few character concepts to which my answer isn't "be an oracle" hehe.

The thing about spontaneous casters is that you really don't need many blasting spells to be a blaster. Even one of each spell level is probably overkill at higher levels. (though for level 5, that's two spells, which is perfect assuming they do different things)

Fire dancer bard comes online at 8th level and is probably the best option for doing all 3 of the things you want.

8th level is too late for my purpose.

In the end, I've decided to try a melee Kineticist. Thanks for all your advice!
