Quote:
Centuries ago, the cruel, sadistic mud sorcerers foresaw their cult’s demise and concocted a plan to outlive their adversaries. Retreating beneath the surface, the powerful members of the cult’s ruling council constructed hidden tombs filled with complex traps and immortal guardians. To these crypts they retreated, content to relax in temporal stasis until their enemies had vanished. One of these ancient resting places has been discovered, intact and unexplored. Do you have what it takes to obtain the fabulous treasures that await you in the mud sorcerer’s tomb?

Voted the best Dungeon Magazine adventure ever, The Mud Sorcerer's Tomb is a lethal, old-school style dungeon crawl filled with puzzles, arbitrary madness, and one of the highest body counts out there.

Being a classic adventure, I'd want to run it for classically built 14th level PC's, thus I'd be accepting submissions for all core races and classes. I'd recruit over the holidays, and hope to kick off come January.

Would people be interested? If so, give me a rough idea as to what you'd play.

Dark Archive

I don't know the Mud Sorcerer's Tomb, but from how you describe it, I'd definitely be interested. I'd probably play a wizard, either a blaster or battlefield controller.

So sort of like tomb of horrors? I might well be able to join in on that.

It's pathfinder though, right?

It would indeed be Pathfinder.

So core classes and races, but is that core rules only?

Right.

Hmm, that makes it a bit less interesting. Might do it anyway though. I'll have to think about it.

Same here. My main issue is that Core material only makes it complicated to create a character using things like the d20pfsrd website.

On the other hand, requirements such as core races and classes only (with or without archetypes) is certainly doable, and remains interesting to me.

To be honest, I'm open to expanding my requirements. As long as we stick to core classes and races, I'm pretty flexible.

If the group wouldn't be opposed, I think this would be a wonderful adventure to run a high level paladin, divine killing machine and general do gooder stick in the mud, lol! I'd love to run such a character!

I would certainly be interested in this campaign. I like core-centric rules. I would most likely apply with a tomb-raiding type of rouge, someone willing to risk life and limb to solve mysteries and obtain rare treasures.

OK, if I can use later stuff, I'll whip up a ranger archer. I'll make him trap capable so he can cover more of the skill monkey slot.

I wouldn't mind trying an old sovereign or bishop, who left his seat for the safety of his realm/flock.

Shadow Lodge

I would love to play, but I'd like to at least have some archetypes available. Core races and such are fine, but archetypes make the classes much more diverse and interesting.

I'd run anything I want to use by you and get input.

The Exchange

Is that one by Mike Shel?

If so then I've heard that is a great reputation. And reducing the choice to core classes and races definitely suits the older school player in me.

How about a dwarven druid (of the earth possibly)?

Cheers

Yeah, this is Mike Shel's first module.

Funny story:
He submitted it to Dungeon Magazine in 1992, and then lost touch with the gaming industry, and never learned that it became a classic adventure that was praised by gamers and industry professionals alike. Then a few years ago - I think it was 2010 - he checked back in, and was surprised to discover how much people had loved it. He's been publishing ever since with Paizo, and his stuff's fantastic.

We can run with archetypes, standard Paizo of course. I think we've got enough interest that I can start a Recruitment thread. I'll put one up shortly and link to it here.

Thanks for the compliments! I'd love to follow along with play to see how you Pathfinderize it and how it stands up to more sophisticated (read: paranoid) players.

However, Mud Sorcerer's Tomb was my second adventure for Dungeon. My first was called Sleepless, about a wizard who rather unethically sold his soul to multiple buyers, unbeknownst to the various purchasers.

Spoiler:
And actually, here's a link to all of my published RPG stuff.

Hi Mike! Wow. Thanks for dropping in. I was debating between running The Mud Sorcerer's Tomb or The Dragon's Demand, so you can tell how highly I rate your writing.

Please feel free to follow along; I'm hoping it's going to be a bloody, entertaining, and incredibly fun romp.

If you're still accepting interest, I'd love to hack 'n slash my way through an old school dungeon.

I'd be more than willing to go CRB rogue, if drbuzzard wants to focus his ranger on archery output, then he can leave the skill monkey bit to me?

Let me know, I'll have time this weekend to whip up a character.

14th level, standard point buy? Standard WBL? Max HP at first, and average after? Any way we can get some character creation details?

Thanks!

Edit: Or! I could play a bard. It's been way too long since I've played a bard. I think actually I'd lean more towards bard, and let drbuzzard go skill monkey on that ranger. Unless the group decided a full rogue would be better for magical trap defusion. So either way, bard or rogue would be my choice.
