As the name of the thread implies, I've been looking at creating a character that can really utilize these magical items to their maximum effect. From what I've learned having a nice Wayfinder would be ideal for something like this as well as a familiar I just found called an Ioun Wyrd that can integrate some into it's body and still share the effects with you. So I'm thinking of something like Wizard with an Ioun Wyrd Valet familiar with magical knack, 4 levels of Field Agent (taking the greater casting field training twice), and Boon Companion. Anyone got any suggestions, tips, or criticism (any will be most appreciated)?

There was a PrC in 3.5 based on Ioun stones back in the old days. i don't have a copy of it, but I'm sure you can find one sitting around somewhere.
Also, there was a Dragon magazine with another couple dozen of ioun stone effects, above and beyond what was published in dungeon (and having nothing to do with the massive powerful ioun stones owned by Larlock the Warlock King of FR fame.)

Deep Magic, from Kobold Games, has an Iounmancer Wizard Archetype (p 338) that replaces scribe scroll, arcane bond and the wizard's bonus feats with the ability to summon up a 'star mantle' of ioun stones that absorb a few levels of spells per day, allow him to cast spells without expensive components as if he had Eschew Materials, and have the properties of selected ioun stones (each time he replaces a wizard bonus feat he gets another one, of increasing GP value, depending on the level acquired).
Other options, if you can make stuff up, would be ioun-stone-based Archetypes that tie them into chakra, allow one to Arcane Bond-Item to multiple Ioun Stones as levels accrue, or link them to planets in the system (the first stone added would spin fast and link to Aballon/Mercury, and grant a movement bonus, the second would have a green glow (regardless of it's actual color), link to Castrovel/Venus, and have powers related to plant growth / vitality, Akiton/Mars somethign to due with red and war, 'the ringed planet' ioun stone being able to actually equip a ring (giving the user a third ring slot), etc.).

Oh, me like. I could certainly try that, would be an interesting thing to concoct in my free time.

I'm rather new to Pathfinder and can never remember, isn't Pathfinder supposed to be backwards compatible with 3.5? If so, would that mean if I got a GM's permission to be it I could play as one in Pathfinder?
You have to be careful of certain effects/changes in the rules on things stacking, but nominally, yes, almost all 3.5 stuff is compatible with PF.

Alright, cool. Will certainly see about drafting a character that becomes an Ioun Master.

Seeker of Secrets has rules for implanting ioun stones and lots of variant options.
Also look at the 'Questing Stone' spell from Seeker of Secrets and the Suppressing Stone spell from Inner Sea Races.
Finally, the Ioun Bond arcane discovery allows you to make an Ioun Stone your bonded object (probably not as good as the Ioun Wyrd familiar though).

For any aspiring Ioun Stone Master, one must invest in a pair of Ioun Spite Bracers.

I came to this thread just to suggest this item. The Crystal Tender shaman also gains a power to share ioun stone powers with their spirit animal (familiar).

And could take Ioun Wyrd as a spirit animal to boot....I'll have to play around with that....

Homebrew here for the Ioun Master
