Occultist And Summon Feats?

Rules Questions

Does an Occultist that has taken Conjuration as one of his schools qualify for feats that affect summon monster spells? Is the Servitor power the same thing as casting summon monster as far as feats such as augment summons and expanded summon monster are concerned?

Bump

I do not know about some of this question..

But typically SLA or SU abilities do not count as spells for feats.

So i'm rather doubtful.

The feats that you mention only apply to spells. Servitor is a Focus Power, not a spell. So they won't work.

Thank you.

Servitor is a spell-like ability of the character, AFAICT, so it works.

AFAICT is what?

Also. Spell like yes, but I believe spell likes don't benefits.

It is spell like. but it is not a spell, and those feats specify spell only.

Augment SLA FAQ

The summon feats generally don't have requirements other than different feats. So for Augment you still need Spell Focus etc.

Dark Archive

Bare in mind those feats don't look like they would work for summoners either but that class did get them to work for them. They were an exception to the rule but maybe there could be another exception to the rule.

That would make things a ton more useful...

For the shadow and undead summoning stuff for sure..

It'd be grand if they did allow it

Huh. That's an interesting FAQ. I wonder if it is a holdover from the "SLAs meet class prerequisites" era. Regardless, I stand corrected. Augment Summoning definitely works with Servitor.

No, it predates it by quite a bit. Looking through the bestiaries, you will see that Spell Focus also applies to relevant SLAs.

That is another useful tidbit. Thank for all the information. I never thought to look through the Bestiaries. I'm going to seriously consider using Augment Summoning with a reach built Occultist. (Probably Sha'ir.).
