It takes two to Tengu

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

The Image of the Monk class deck has been changed in the store, looks like we'll potentially be having a Tengu Monk now(If I judge right by the new image). Looks like the druid set may have been tweaked as well.

New Monk Art.

I'll take all the tengu I can get!

I wish the full art showed you were getting multiple characters, but it's very awesome art and I love seeing a Tengu.

That being said, thank you for the best thread title ever.

You're welcome Andrew ; ). I was going to pass up the Monk deck because the original character art didn't stand out much but these new two characters look intriguing. I'm guessing that the female Monk is a Halfling, but whatever race she looks like she means business.

I hope the nun will be of the sage-cool-reserved type to make a change vs the all fighting sajan.

My boyfriend got to play the Monk deck at GenCon, and he played as the Tengu...

Spoiler:
Her name is Rooboo, and for your combat check you can reveal a weapon to use your dexterity skill + 1d6 ()1d8 plus the weapon's adventure deck number; you may additionally discard that weapon to add another 1d6 and the weapon's traits. Her favored card type is weapon but she doesn't have the opportunity to become proficient with weapons until her roles.

There's also Athnul, the female human monk, who never becomes proficient with weapons (and who's starting deck is 4 items, 5 allies, and 6 blessings!). For her melee combat check you may recharge a card to add your wisdom skill and the bludgeoning trail (() and you may add the Magic trait); you may not play a weapon on this check. Also "You may reveal a blessing to evade your encounter. (() Then you may recharge that blessing to explore your location). Any recharging of blessings is good to me.

Let me know if I'm not supposed to share any of this. There weren't any signs or people saying "THIS IS CONFIDENTIAL DO NOT TELL PEOPLE ONLINE" but I assume it's all hush hush since it hasn't been posted on the blog.......

I know! I saw it and went "perfect!" :D

Wow, thanks for the info Rebel. Now I'm VERY interested in this deck ; ).

Anyone know if the Druid deck was demoed at GenCon? I can't place the race of one of the male Druids, but he looks really cool, sort of Groot like.

I like the idea of a Tengu monk and I also like your thread title. Should be used for the blog post!

I'd definitely be ok with that Jason. Also I'd be willing to do a guest blog for the reveal from a buyers point of view if the powers that be would let me test drive the deck, just throwing it out there ; ).(Attempts a Diplomacy check on The Powers with a 1d4 bonus from Arueshalae's gift).

I personally have no problem with general discussion of what was seen at Gen Con. Spoiler tags are a great idea.

The Monk preview blog will be up next month, and will definitely feature a few words about our tengu friend. In October we'll do a druid preview blog, and I suspect we'll focus on the dendritic fellow you can see in the preorder image.

Yes, it was. I played the male dwarf druid and he was awesome. I don't know much about the tree guy though (I didn't look too closely at the two I wasn't playing).

My friend played Lini! I don't have those character sheets on me, otherwise I'd share those too. :) I've never played as Lini before, but she plays very similar to her add-on deck version.

Maznar, the druid:
He can reveal an animal ally to add a D4 to any check by a character at his location. Combat-wise, he was pretty much a caster, but once I ran out of spells (which was inevitable) his strength was like a d8 I think, so not too bad with blessings.

Again: Playtesters, please refrain from posting about playtest data, please. Anyone posting material from the playtests will be removed from future playtests.

Will do! My apologies.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission?

There is a difference between posting playtest data (which may have been changed for good reasons, is generally released to testers prior to polish and editing, etc) and data from the decks that were out for anyone to play with at Gen Con.

So, please - be excited about the opportunity you had to play those classes at Gen Con, and feel free to share the information behind spoilers just like you did. It's one of the perks of going to the major cons and supporting organized play.

For playtest data, the correct phrase is "Better to not mention that I'm even in the playtest, much less post anything from it." You did sign a Non Disclosure Agreement to join after all...

I sadly didn't get to attend GenCon, but these characters look very exciting. Can't wait until I get them in with my sub. Rooboo sounds awesome, and the similar guy (?) in the Druid deck looks interesting as well. Hopefully this means we'll see one "out of the norm" race in all of the upcoming Class Decks, an Aasimar, Catfolk, or Ratfolk would be sweet :)

I didn't know there was a difference between official playtesters (who signed NDAs) and the playtest decks they had at GenCon (where all I needed to do to borrow it was put down my name and what table I was playing at). So I'm not in trouble! Yay!

I'll keep my mouth shut from now on though.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

You're not in trouble. Also, our playtesters didn't sign NDAs, we just made what they used to call a "gentleman's agreement." (I assume that term isn't so much in use anymore, but I'm not sure what is.)

I believe a "Red Mantis foreclosure" is the correct form of legal binding.
