Tyranny of Dragons Adventure League 5E

Recruitment

Greetngs Potential Adventurers,
I am seeking heroes to stop the plots of the Dragon Cult. Will you help the Realms friend?
Crunch
Draw up a 1st Level PC using the Adventure League rules. Those can be found Here or you can have a 2nd level PC if you have the sheet for it. The adventure began a while back and at this point I have two PC ready. I am looking for two to three more. The game will run by AL standards and I wi send you a sheet when finished. Application process will end on the 8/15/15.

Very interested, what classes are the other 2 players?

A warlock and a life cleric, though if someone else wants to play a cleric, I might rework the cleric into a monk with the healer feat instead.

Thanks that leaves me with some options. Let me put some thought into it, but right now I'm thinking dwarf, spy, fighter or paladin. I'll be able to work on him some more today.

We'd be happy to have you aboard!

You can never go wrong with a dwarf!

Still working on it haven't had much time today.

Just let me know and we will roll with it.

We need more peoples! With Gaming Ranger we will be 3. To quote Ocean's Eleven, "You think we need one more? Okay, we'll get one more..." ^_^

The next post should be my submission. Dain Deepforge

Just need to add equipment, otherwise I'm good to go.

Silver Crusade

I have a 3rd level character, I'd be willing to drop him to 2nd if that'd be OK.

@Dain, a redeemed dwarf, eh? ;) I like it!

@Rorek55, I don't you can do that for Adventurer's League. If it is an Adventurer's League character, DM Ashman may be willing to let it go at 3rd.

I'd be interested -- thinking halfling outlander ranger (two-weapon/hunter archetype).

Would be my first 5e character that's not a pre-gen, but I've got a PHB and experience with 4 prior editions so think I can figure it out. :)

Are there any "campaign trait" style rules in adventurers league that provide additional character background, etc?

@Murph, no, but DM is allowing one of the special campaign bonds from the Hoard of the Dragon Queen. ^_^ They are really good to tie you in to the campaign! Also, as time goes on, we can gain prestige within our faction to unlock special missions and stuff. Don't know if it will come up in this campaign, but if you do any expeditions at you FLGS, you may be able to benefit!

Cool deal -- I googled up the campaign bonds, and that looks like the backstory-campaign connection I was looking for!

I'll post a character tonight.

Rorek no problem with a 3rd level. As far everyone else one you are ready let me know .

This is Murph's Halfling Ranger! The site is being *real* finicky tonight and I've lost a bunch of typing multiple times, so still have to add some things, but basics are here for GM review.

Quick 5e newbie question -- can I trade in my class's starting equip. for similar / "worse" versions? As in, Ranger gives me a longbow, but longbows are heavy, so I have disadvantage as a Small character. Am I allowed to take a shortbow instead? Similarly, can I "trade down" my starting scale mail (AC 14+Dex) for a chain shirt (AC 13+Dex) to avoid the stealth disadvantage?

I am not sure on the correct call, but I believe that any character that is created from here on out is supposed to use the starting equipment, though they can "sell" them for half price. However that may cause you to lose out on a bit of gold.

Lantern Lodge

Very interested, I would roll up a Charlatan Bard who loves to insinuate himself into groups and monkey wrench the whole operation. He is a scoundrel, a smuggler, a thug, and a rake and those are his good days. He would probably be human with the actor feat. I GM for AL on a regular basis and am very familiar with the rules. I am reluctant to make another alias until I know that I am in the game.

Lantern Lodge

I lie about almost everything, even when there's no good reason to.
Sarcasm and insults are my weapons of choice.

Ideal: I am a free spirit, no one tells me what to do.
I never run the same con twice.

Bond: I fleeced the wrong person and must work to ensure that this individual never crosses paths with me or those I care about (myself).

Flaw: Yes, all of them.
I can't resist a pretty face.
I'm always in debt. I spend my ill-gotten gains on decadent luxuries faster than I bring them in.

Silver Crusade

Just realized I can't register my old character :/ so I'll just make up a new one. (I only ever played it with my home group) man, I really wish I had one extra point to bump Wis to /13 >.<

Languages: common, elven, Dwarven.

Friendly, strong, tough, but not quite the brightest mind. Learned how to shape glass into beautiful images from his father, before he discovered his natural talent for swordplay after standing alone against an ogre that attacked his town after the ogre killed the guard captian and one town guard. Befriended a dwarven merchant that saw his feat as well and traveled as a caravan guard for a time after, as well as working as a glass merchant. (To the dwarves fascination and slight distase, after all, glass is to fragile to really last)

Background:
Event: I stood alone against a terrible foe.

Trait: (all of the 1-5 ones fit... But. If I had to pick the most defining one...)
3. Once I set my mind to something, I follow it through to the end.

Ideal: (again, a mix, but this one is easier.
5. Sincerity- no good pretending to be something I'm not. I'm no hero, I just do the best I can.

Bond: (both 4&5)
5. I protect those that cannon protect themselves

Flaw:
4. I have a weakness for drink, lucky for me I can give even a dwarf a run for there money when it comes to drink!

Lantern Lodge

Oh, I also was planning on taking the story bond:

Spoiler:
You and your family were members of the Cult of the Dragon, until your rivals in the cult arranged to wipe you out. Though they slaughtered your kin, you survived but they think you’re dead. Now is your chance for vengeance! Your hit list consists of three names: a human cultist named Frulam Mondath, a half-orc named Bog Luck, and a half-dragon named Rezmir. You have arrived in Greenest, knowing it’s next on the cult’s list of targets.

So, it looks like we got 3 applicants, hopefully DMAshman will respond today and we can welcome you all to join us. This will be quite an eclectic group!

I guess I will not be re-working the character into a monk after all. :)

Guys sorry I was off the grid. Here is the link to game http://paizo.com/campaigns/ALHordeOfTheDragonQueen/gameplay&page=last
Also Natcha you have to take the starting gear. That was in the AL guide I will allow you to get stuff in a while. @daway and Rorek your in. I will post more tonight.

Hey I made a post so just report in and we will get going.

Lantern Lodge

yeah, I just don't have a good feeling about this. It's been almost a week since the application process ended and we are just now getting word. I'm sorry I am going to have to withdraw my application as I feel this campaign won't have the legs to get through.

Ok. This character is up and running finally. I ran into a set back when the site timed out while I was writing my backstory. I had to start over:(.

Either way, Ren Marthan is ready to be judged!

Hang in there, Ren, hopefully DMAshman will get you in on Monday!

Ren your in go ahead and post.

Liberty's Edge

Is this still open? If so I would love to put in a submission :)

Is the gameplay tab open? I can't see it.

Yes Krash

Liberty's Edge

OK I will put together a character and have him up before the end of the night

Liberty's Edge

Question: Are races from the Elemental Evil player's guide legal in this campaign? Or should I stick with core?

Liberty's Edge

Ok I am still kinda a DnD noob, so it is taking me a bit longer to make my character. But I am just about done with a wood elf monk, I can finish it up after work this afternoon.

The EE player's guide is not available for the Tyranny of Dragons campaign, as far as I am aware.

Woo hoo! It'll be fun seeing a monk in action!

Liberty's Edge

Yeah you are right, I read the guide again and figured out what I need to do. Yeah, I am excited to try one out! I should have it done in a little bit, just got off work a bit ago

Ok wood elf monk ready to go! Need to hammer out a full back story, but this will do for now I think.

Am I good to head over to the gameplay?

We have been mostly doing RP over there as we wait for DM Ashman, hopefully he will give you the go-ahead today!

Hopefully! I am rearing to go!
