Does a swift action movement provoke attacks of opportunity?

Rules Questions

Such as from fleet charge?

I ask because a swift action spell does not provoke attacks of opportunity?

I've always ruled that the action type is irrelevant. It's movement from one square to another that provokes. The only common exception being the 5' step.

Being moved (say from a spell or trap effect) when it's not you turn is still movement. I've always ruled this to provoke like any other movement.

As another example, charge is a full-round action. No Move Action, yet still provokes those you pass by on the way.

Unless it specificly tell you that it dosent provoke. There is no reason to belive that it souldent. IMOP. I undestand the quicken Spell exeptional but there are several swift or even free actions that still provoke.

Movement out of a square that is threatened provokes an attack of opportunity unless the movement explicitly says it doesn't (like a five foot step). Fleet charge doesn't have any such language and thus provokes.

Thanks for all of your input

Out of curiousity, what is a swift action that explicitly generates an AoO? In the combat chapter there are none listed, but I know many have been added since Core came out. I'm not asking for ones where we just assume so, like above.

A quickened ranged attack spell?

Sczarni

Some swift actions provoke. There is no general rule that swift actions are safe from attacks of opportunity.

Hey Nefreet, thanks for that.
