Spell trigger items and the Warlock...

So am I considered to have all 6 spell levels for spell trigger items or do I only get it for the levels I have arcane training in?

Unless the Vigilante has some sort of special case, you can use spell trigger items such as wands if the spell is on your class Spell List, even if you don't have sufficient level to cast it normally. A Paladin can use a wand of Cure Light Wounds at 1st level, for example.

Scrolls and possibly other items can be more problematic, however (requiring a caster level check?) I don't have my book in front of me for the exact rules.

As far as I understand it, the Vigilante still increases in caster level without spending talents on spell casting - they just don't get extra spells. Since scrolls on the right list only require a certain CL to cast without a check, you should be able to use them fine.

Yeah, found the relevant rules on p 490 of the Core Rule Book:

If the user meets all the requirements noted above <spell of the appropriate type and on the class's Spell List> , and her caster level is at least equal to the spell's caster level, she can automatically activate the spell without a check. If she meets all three requirements but her own caster level is lower than the scroll spell's caster level, then she has to make a caster level check (DC = scroll's caster level + 1) to cast the spell successfully

Scrolls are spell completion items. Which I guess is relevant to this thread. Regardless, I'm aware of how the rule works with the regular classes, but let me clarify my question.

Essentially what I'm asking is are spells still considered to be on your class spell list if you don't have the arcane talent to cast said spells?

Seems horribly unfair if so. It's just that this is a new mechanic and I'm not 100% sure how it works! ;)

Thanks all. :)

From the playtest doc:
"His spells are drawn from the sorcerer/wizard spell
list."

"His spells are drawn from the inquisitor spell
list."

Unless some specific wording is added that prohibit it, it doesn't seem mechanically different from a first level paladin using a Cure Light Wounds wand.

I'd say levels 1-6. It's still on your list. it should matter if you can cast them either do to level or ability taken.

Ok thanks. So I should have them regardless.

Had trouble posting or I would have responded earlier. ;)
