I've forwarded the issue up our internal chain, but haven't heard anything back. I'll poke again to see if we can get an answer.

EDIT: I just got an update that the hotel should have added ~50 rooms to the block. I'd double-check their site to see if any single bed rooms have been added, or call them directly to see what options are available.

Liberty's Edge

Just talked to the reservation desk - the double queen bed rooms ARE the cheapest. A single king bed is actually more expensive. She said ALL the rooms in the PaizoCon block are the standard double queen rooms, which is the least expensive option they have

Sczarni

In trying to make reservations it appears that a Tuesday checkout is not available, which means Monday might be a long day for those of us driving from far, far away =(

It is, one just needs to pay the non convention room rate.

PM sent.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I made reservations under the con rate through Monday, and then one at a rather higher rate for Monday night.

I did this last year, too. Because it goes into their system as two different reservations, I had to mention this when checking in. They told me to come by during Monday morning some time to "check out and check in", but I was able to stay in the same room.

I'm flying in, and could probably have flown out Monday night, but didn't want to feel rushed, and hope to hang out with people (maybe even play another game?) Monday afternoon/evening.

according to their website, when I look to book a room during the con at regular rates the single queen is $10 less a night and the king is the same as the double queen room. Now they may not choose to give con rates to anything other than a double queen, but I hoped that if the relative prices were that way at full price, it would translate to con rates as well.

As an added note to this, if you are using two different payment methods (such as splitting costs with a friend), you will need to clarify that when you do the check-out/check-in on Monday. There was a problem last year where they charged it all on my friend's card because that was put down as the "primary payment method," rather than them charging half on her card and half on mine, and it was a whole ordeal that didn't actually get straitened out at the desk because it wasn't noticed until a day later. So just a heads up for people!

Awesome! I look forward to seeing you again!

Um what's the situation for getting to this very out of the way place without a car? I don't use them and since I'm just a ferry ride away I don't see any sense in flying. Is the bus service good? I am particularly thinking of on the way back I want to train to vancouver (have a concert to see) but the train leaves before 7 am.... would suck to pay for a 20 minute taxi ride for that... I mean I could take a coach later but the train is 300% better than a bus is...

Also has anyone figured out the double bed situation? It's less the cost than the weirdness of having two beds in the same room and not needing them. Will the hotel at least let you add someone to the room later if you find someone to share with? I'm not categorically against doing so but I don't know anyone locally offhand that can afford to go and would want to. If that changed it would be nice to add a person.

The light rail runs from central Seattle straight to the airport, from the station it's a 5 minute walk to the station

I'll not be there this year Leg. Brother is getting married out of the country. I'm trying to go to GenCon though. I think most of the NOLA group will be there.

Scarab Sages

I'm booked. Ran into some problems with the online system when I tried to book a couple of extra days, but the reservation clerks at the hotel were able to get it all set up for me.

But... but... who will make sure I get back to the table after communing with Nature?

I look forward to dragging you out with us at GenCon, not like this will be much of a challenge.

Its never a challenge to drag any of the NOLA crew out for beverages :)

My first PaizoCon! I can't wait. It'll be great working with the team and getting to meet everyone who makes it out.

Is there any discussions for volunteer GM's this year?

I called and made the reservation directly with the hotel. They gave me the con rate for Thursday through Tuesday. I think it's just that the online tool can't do that.

I called as well. Makes no never mind at this point as we are just going to pile all of us into one room for the night.

I recommend no morning sessions Friday or Saturday.

This means Russ gets to drive us to the Food King! Food King!

I will more than likely *not* be a familiar face, as this is the first PC I'm attending, though I've been attending GenCon since '94. (PFS only since 2014, though.)

Are there going to be 'set-up' needs on Wednesday or Thursday? I could help with that, I think?

Hey Jon!

Well my car will be in Denver, but I may be able to arrange a ride with a local friend!

@Wei Ji: New faces are great too. I don't know about setup, but I will definitely be arranging some kind of game for Thursday.

We do not accept volunteers for setup due to insurance liability concerns. Staff only!

That's sensible.

Lots of chances for stupid things to happen during such an evolution, lots of hidden risks that the average person doesn't think about.

Even physical security has inherent risks at a hotel, I've seen that happen to a couple of folks who were providing security for a LARP that happened between two weddings...

I'll bring myself, then, and hope there's some way I can help out at the start of the convention that isn't set-up that is legit.

I am totally stoked just hoping tickets don't sell out before I can get 1. Also hoping my brother and friends can get in on a game with some designers/writers.

Btw when do tickets go on sale? Or approximately when?

Hey Wolverine690, we haven't had to limit the number of attendee tickets for the show as of yet. One of the benefits of moving to the DoubleTree Hotel is it has a ton of convention space (and hotel rooms) so we can continue to let the show grow organically without fear of limiting it.

The portion of the show that tends to sell out is the Saturday Night Banquet and the PFS Special(s) but even the banquet still had tickets available well into March so I wouldn't stress over things.

As for tickets going on sale, please continue to be patient and stay tuned. I'm *hopeful* that we can get them up soon to soon-ish. Believe me, we want to get them up just as badly as you do.

What tends to "sell out" on the first day are Tier 1 GM slots =\

FYI - I was able to call the Doubletree and get the con rate in a King bed room instead of the double queen bed.

Cool I've never been. My brother and friends who I game with went last year and had great time other then not getting to game for an event because of an issue (over booked or something) And so hoping to avoid that this year.

Very much looking forward to it...

Also off topic but hoping to have someone turn a module or so into scripts and sell to Hollywood. My preference would be ruin lords, loved that one. But seeing pathfinder classes on big screen would be epic. As long as done right and with a LotR's approach.

Rune Lords not Ruin...lol

Booked! And this year the con rate IS, in fact, better than the general online rate. (And the government rates are way more than standard rate... LOL)

I'm starting to get *nervous* about PC now. Don't know why, though? Never been, have the hotel ready, have to get transport and convention tickets, but... nervous. More nervous than the Gen Con jitters every year...

I would greatly prefer Netflix over Hollywood. Netflix isn't afraid to take risks, whereas Hollywood seems almost crippled by its fear of straying from formulaic success (with of course a few exceptions.)

Decided to bite the bullet and have booked a 10 day slot around the con - arriving on the Wednesday 25th May around 1.30pm US time, leaving around the same time on Friday 3rd June getting back to the UK in the wee hours of the morning local UK time (urgh!)

Yes, TemplateFu is checking off a bucket list item - coming to a US games convention... and he chose... Paizocon!

Now, just need to wait for the Paizocon ticket sales to open and I'm all set. I might even splash out for the dinner option if it's available this year! :D

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32, 2011 Top 16

You should get the banquet ticket if you can. Not only is it fun, and a great way to get to know your table's Paizo dinner companion, and the trivia contest afterwards, but there's very few events scheduled during that time.

I'm going to be looking for roommates to help make this a more affordable trip. Before I go booking my own room, is anyone already holding a room and looking for a roommate?

I'm a great guest, quiet, hygienic, and pretty easy-going. I'll be attending by myself, so it would jut be me and my stuff. I don't know exactly when I will be there, but I hope to arrive Thursday and leave Tuesday.

If you are interested just PM me. We can work details out from there.

Hold on to your hats everyone!!

Hotel Booked and Paid - single occupancy with mountain view and a bath tub instead of a shower - YES!

Flights Booked and Paid - Virgin Atlantic - all direct - night flight return to London so I can be better rested for the journey home from the airport!

Look out USA, TemplateFu is on his way!

Just need to get me the Paizo con tickets left now - can't wait for them to go on sale.
