Recruitment

Awesome. Looking forward to the recruitment thread and in the meantime I'll pick up a copy of the player's guide.

Out of interest, what kind of pace (number of posts per day) are you hoping to set? I really like a fast-paced game to keep up momentum and people's interest and feel it is the best way to maintain a pbp beyond the first few levels.

@gossamar4: I'm probably going to add in extra skill points per level (2 extra, one must be spent on a social skill, I think), and I am definitely going to use point buy. I'll probably go the 25-point route over a 1-to-1 route, but I will consider it before I finalize my decisions.

GM Ruin, I second the 24 point 1-for-1 point buy, it works very well and still not outrageous.

But of course, you are still the GM ... :-)

I could do a post a day pretty reliably.

To get a game working at above a post a day takes a picked crew that you know to be postaholics.

Even with such a crew, you are lucky to maintain that and it requires a very responsive GM.

Dark Archive

Dot for interest.

i can do a post a day. But, i live in HI, so.. my "day" is about 6 hours off from standard..

I agree its difficult to maintain a quick pace, but it can certainly be done if the dedication is there and expectations are set from the start.

I've just seen so many games stagnate and finish at level 2 and 3 because the pace is too slow and it makes me sad.

I like one or two posts a day, one main one and one supporting, usually.

Changing my mind as to class choice. I'm thinking a monk/arcanist would be interesting. Specifically a four winds monk, and an elementalist arcanist, focused on lightning.

Call him raiden
(Duck quickly)

Still i think I'll work it out.

I was thinking of the adventure's location. South of the shackles would seem pretty good.

After a few test builds, monk sorcerer seems better

I have to agree with JZ, while its not always possible to keep that pace up 1-2 posts a day does keep the game moving and stops it just ending. I hope this gamengoes on for awhile I'd love to see the end of savage tides.

Yes, it is possible, but you either:
A) Have to have a picked crew you have played with before and know post a heck of a lot
or
B) Do some research on the posting history of the applicants to make sure they post a heck of a lot. Good thing it's easy to check posting history.

Hey RedRuin, have you had a chance to think about recruitment? Or is there another thread I have somehow missed :/

yeah it has gotten rather quiet

Not yet dead! I'll be posting up the big recruitment sometime tonight. I'm just waffling on a few decisions that won't matter for several chapters in the adventure, but need to be made early on for consistency's sake.

As far as posting rate goes, once per day is fine, but more is gravy. I will definitely have days where I can only post once, but I plan to be fairly consistent about when I post. I would much rather see daily consistency in posting than quantity alone.

Happy to hear this is still on! Also very happy with the pace you want it to run at.

Great, I'm off tomorrow to finish off and submit.

Liberty's Edge

The idea for the character and a rough draft is ready, but I will not finalize until I see the GM instructions on character creation.

I have and idea for my character but it isn't in a physical form yet.

I shall start properly designing now

It's up!
