Hello everyone! It's time to formally recruit for a Cheliax Campaign. The campaign is inspired by the entry in the Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea World Guide and Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Cheliax, the Infernal Empire. But that's not where all the inspiration comes from. I'm also taking inspiration from the tales of Gor by John Norman. So, I have some things to say.
Campaign Feel
This campaign is an original campaign taking place after the events of the Hell's Vengeance adventure path. The setting is Sesara, in the countryside. The adventures will also take place in the Whispering Wood. Her Infernal Magistrix, Queen Abrogail II of the Thrice Damned House of Thrune is still in power. Her court is five hundred miles away, though. And while the Asmodean Inquisition travels the land looking for "Evil", they are few and far between. Still, the practice of slavery is throughout the kingdom.
You live in Sesara or have come here. Much of the woods have been cleared, and there is farming here. The town square is dominated by a castle where the Baron of Sesara maintains a small force to enforce the Infernal Magistrix's law and to protect his barony from the monsters of the Whispering Wood. He has appointed a judge, and barristers (lawyers) are available. There is an inn, the Inn of the Flaming Cockatrice. There is a church of Sarenae that is regularly desecrated by worshipers of Asmodeus. They sacrifice pigs in it.
Finally, there is the slave market. It's small, but licensed slaves are sold here. Slavery is interpreted to be Gorean slavery in this campaign. Female slaves are sold to be house slaves, while male slaves work the mines, farms, or trades. Sometimes, you can get personal slaves.
The society is still stratified in Sesara. The baron is at the top. The knights are under him, and some have manor homes. Then there is the craftsmen and freemen. After that the serfs and slaves.
Some Important Notes:
1. In Cheliax, the institution of slavery exists. It's considered normal for one of the gentry to own slaves. Player Characters are usually encouraged to start without a personal slave.
2. Cheliax is considered to be a place where evil is good, and good is evil. For example: people who sacrifice babies to Molech are considered to be virtuous.
3. Signing your life to a devil or a demon is considered to be a good act.
System and Rules:
RPG System: Pathfinder 1e.
Abilities: 20 point buy.
Races: You may choose any Core race (human, dwarf, elf, half-elf, half-orc, halfling, gnome) and you may also choose Aasimar and Tiefling. You may use Blood of Angels and Blood of Fiends to figure out your Aasimar's or Tiefling's traits.
Classes: You may choose any class from the Core Rulebook, APG, PathUnchained, and ACG. You may not play a gunslinger, Anti-paladin, Samurai, ninja, or any of the Occult Classes. This campaign will still work without the classes in OA. Variant multiclassing isn't an option.
Skills: All skills are available. Yes, you can make up a skill. Only one custom skill is allowed.
Feats: We won't be using Elephant-in-the-room/the room is square options. We will stick to the core rules regarding feats.
Traits: You may choose two traits.
Alignment: Okay. This is probably the most Controversial topic of this campaign. Are we allowed to play an evil character? The answer is, probably. Here are my guidelines regarding alignment: you may submit a character with any alignment you wish. I suggest submitting more than one character, they can be of different alignments. Please note that the Lawful Good character will consider slavery to be normal, and the Chaotic Good character will probably have a problem with it. I suggest reading the Alignment Chapter in the AD&D 2e's Player's Handbook as well -- that chapter describes alignment well and how it works. I would recommend submitting good characters, but I'll consider evil characters as well.
Any questions?

I am interested.
Thinking of going with a halfling bard of the Mute Musician archetype.
In his younger days, he was bit too brash, and mouthed off to the wrong Chelish Lord. He lost his tongue, but not his talent for music.
He could either be the slave of one of the other PCs (if someone's playing a wealthy aristocrat or merchant type), or else he managed to escape, and is trying not to get caught and returned, depending on the circumstances.
This will be his profile. He's not built out yet (working on it), but this will serve as placeholder for the time being.
Questions for EltonJ:
1.) Are Background Skills being used?
2.) Could this character potentially begin knowing either Sakvroth (Undercommon Sign Language) or the Sczarni sign laguage? Obviously, it would do him little good unless he encounters someone who used them, or one of the other PCs takes it as a language, but it would make for reall interesting backgroud/flavor information.

I'll submit two i suppose. An inquistor (infiltrator) of milani. CG.
And a paladin, who plays nice with the law, and starts out more focused on law vs chaos rather than good vs evil. Though can grow more into either. Both are going to likely be primarily ranged combatants. The paladin will worship the gods of the order of the godclaw, giving plenty of potentials as the game progresses

I wanted to ask, would you be open to the Chosen One paladin archetype? Note, I'm not looking for "main character" or anything like that, I'm the chosen one of the deity, NOT the campaign. If thats something you'd find interesting, since it would likely put a little more work on you, great. If not, I'll probably make them a Holy Tactician with Oath against Chaos.

Damnation! No Anti-paladins! A Cheliax Campaign is perfect for them.
Oh well.
Note: Looked up Gorean slavery. 0.0 Okay, you have the balls to run it, I'll have the balls to play it!
I'll be playing a tiefling, one who just saw the attack on House Thrune but failed. He will be full of Cheliaxan and Tiefling pride.
Unsure of class just yet, but will likely be entrenched in Cheliaxan society.

Not sure if there will be time for me to make two characters now, but I'll be on vacation first week of June.
For now, registering interest. Orc alchemist - still deciding on the flavour :)
How about vigilante - split personality (good healer, evil assassin) :D
One of the characters that was played for about a year before DM disappeared

Actually, you just need to read Tarnsman of Gor.

A question for you GM. Having just read Tarnsman of Gor, how will slavery work in Cheliax? I would say that Gor is a product of its time and, in these more enlightened(?) days, the two perhaps don't entirely fit. Abrogail is probably the most powerful woman in Golarion, is the level of gender-segregation in the Gor books going to be reproduced or will things be a bit more egalitarian - in line with Golarion canon?
I'm interested, just need some more information. :)
