Looking to make the most of a wayang and need help.

Advice

First off, all advice needs to use PFS legal stuff as this is a society character.

A list of things I want him to be capable of:
- Capable at sneaking/scouting this should be easy due to race and a trait to make it a class skill if it isn't already
-Some sneak attack
- A capable melee combatant once rounds have started as in can do damage outside of sneak attack and not be to flimsy

Now optional stuff that would obviously be nice:
-Making effective use of the INT plus
-Full BAB
-evasion
-getting a small boost to land speed (super optional)
Now the only two things that have really come to mind are:
Slayer: has full bab, stealth as a class skill, and sneak attack and evasion at lvl 10, and D10 hp
BUT, there is no use for having a good INT score as it has lots of ranks
All around this sounds pretty solid but I'm kinda wanting to optimize this guy and feel like not cashing in on that INT plus is a bit of a waste so any advice is welcomed.

Secondly (while I'm not sure if it is legal so if someone could answer that that'd be great) Greensting Slayer Magus: Has a limited form of sneak attack, evasion at 7th, obvious use of INT, Has spells to make up for being less inclined to melee combat. Plus sneak attack stab while shocking grasp is going through my weapon sounds super deadly and awesome.
BUT, This has average bab, limited sneak attacks, I need a trait for sneak to be a class skill and only has d8 hp.

If you guys can help with either of these ideas or have something that you think fits the bill better I'd love to hear it. Thx in advance.

sounds like the perfect class description of a Slayer to me. Don't mind the small weapon damage die decrease, it's not noticeable in the long run.

Yea it covers about everything I want, I've never played one though and kinda need some help fleshing out the idea. Like stats, feats and what talents to pick. I'm looking for new ideas and hoping to get a few tips on the ones that I have. Is there any reason to use that INT buff for any thing other than sapping that stat to cover the wis minus? Should I even worry about int or is there just no real use for it? What weapon should I go for? What about one of the Ranger styles? This class has so many options its crazy and I'm honestly a tad overwhelmed.

Grand Lodge

Investigator.

Potions of invisiblity, darkness will help with scouting.

All the skills you can ask for.

I recommend a 1 level dip into inspired blade swashbuckler. Will help with early level combat. Fencing grace is good.

Alchemist is also a good choice. Makes for one of the best scouts in the game honestly and appreciates INT and dex bonuses.

Grand Lodge

I am gonna second Alchemist. Especially if you focus on finesse and bomb chucking.

Here's a fun high-DEX build that just came online with the Melee Tactics Toolbox, works well for a Snakebite Striker but it's good also for Rogues, Slayers, Greensting Maguses, etc...

1. Get Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Circling Mongoose and Canny Tumble.

2. Move into the melee range of an enemy, start doing Circling Mongoose attacks, avoiding the AOO with Acrobatics and thus adding +2 to your attack thanks to canny tumble.

Go for slayer! After level 6 you want to go into the Shadowdancer prestige class for the hide in plain sight ability (go into stealth in front of people) and the ability to teleport through shadows (preferably behind the enemy casters)!

Im assuming you start at first level, a rough build would something like this:

Point-buy
17
14
14
14
10
7

+1 strength at lvl 4
+1 CON at lvl 8

Feats:
lvl
1 power attack
2 [talent:fast stealth]
3 combat reflexes
4 [talent:bleeding attack]
5 dodge
6 [talent:combat trick]mobility
7 [here you go shadowdancer], skill focus: stealth
8
9 [talent:without a trace], dampen presence
10
11 stealthy

Favored class bonus into hit points.

Traits:
Student of philosophy(INT to social skills in most occasions)
Honeyed tongue(Diplomacy as class skill)

Skills:
stealth
at least 2 ranks in perform(dance) for shadowdancer
perception
diplomacy
bluff
knowledge(engineering, geography, local)
acrobatics/swim/climb

Suggested items:
+1 sneaky adamantine greatsword(9050)
sandals of the lightest step(5000)
silent blade vest(4300)
scabbard of vigor(1800)
bloodstained gloves(8000)
slayer's robe(15000)

At level 9, you can go stealth in front of somebody, be undetected by tremorsense, blindsense AND scent, teleport behind their lines(!), summon friggin' SHADOWS to scout ahead and be a very dangerous melee combatant on top of things.

Stygian Slayer would be extremely thematic (and make good use of the Crook of Cidhureen). For INT, Focused Shot is very useful if you're ranged. And I second the Shadowdancer PrC. One of the few outstanding PrCs and perfect for Slayers and Wayangs!

Here's some cultural and role playing information.

Wayang is an important aspect of Indonesian culture. The pathfinder Wayang race seems to be based on wayang puppetry. Wayang tends to be culturally associated with Indonesian martial arts, particularly pentjak silat and kuntao. Here are some examples of Wayang Puppetry and Wayang Live theater.

* The Monkey King - live theater (culture shock!)
* Wayang shadow puppets (sorry, no English translation, useless unless you speak Tagalog)
* Wayang shadow puppetry [Youtube: Confluence] tells how the particular martial art I practice was founded. The child represented at the end was my teacher's teacher's teacher. No audio, used to be set to gamelon music. Here's a choreographed fight between a woman and a man and a montage of skilled practitioners demonstrating self defense techniques. Should someone create a Wayang monk this would be the model to follow. Note the presence of many female fighters, which is rather unusual in Islamic society. Most legends claim pentjak silat was created by a woman.

Another thing we have in common Luckbender. I've studied some Pentjak Silat myself. Silat isn't the only major style claimed to be created by a woman. Wing Chun is actually named after and accredited to a woman which swiftly past on to a man who perfected the style and named it after Her as a tribute.

Brutal Fighting Style Silat is...I've been carrying a Karambit ever since studying the style mixing it with my shaolin kung fu and Kali. I picked up some moves for grapple defense as I hate ground grappling in real life. Terrible place to be if you can help it.

Anyways nice Video and cultural post Luckbender. I enjoyed them.

Here is one I think you might enjoy Luckbender Silat Verse Kali a Demonstration of Styles approaches to self defense Shows the effectiveness and brutality of the styles.

Silver Crusade

You are very welcome, Fruian.

P.s. Personally I love ground fighting, especially grappling, and will often take an opponent to the ground before finishing them. Note how many of the self-defense techniques in those videos include an automatic coup de grace on the fallen foe.

P.P.s. Nice video. The two guys in red are high level monks. I'd put them both around 3rd or 4th level, in real life. Hard to get much past that without many real fights and kills, which is frowned on nowadays. In order to attain 8th dan (4th or 5th level monk, near maximum human achievement in real life) in the style I practice one must participate in a real fight, alone, against at least three opponents, and must kill at least one of them. My teacher's teacher, a Dutch-Indonesian special forces officer, purportedly once fought five men and killed three, besides surviving four years behind enemy lines in Japanese-occupied Indonesia during WWII. There are no living 8th dan masters in this particular art, as the last one died in 1998. I figure I'm a first level monk not quite to 2nd level, and sincerely hope I never gain enough XP to make 2nd level.

Ok, very nifty stuff. I know Str typically is better for fighting than dex AND wayang are the only small race to not get a minus to it. I do like the idea of Stygian Slayer but if I remember correctly I lose access to medium armo, plus I don't generally like to go heavier than medium armor so I think 14 dex may be a tad low. Also to incorporate a little bit of martial arts what about a 1 level dip into Snakebite Brawler? It gets a boost to bab at first level and sneak attack first level. As far as i know that is the only class that does both first level but it progresses very slowly but that is why I'd only take one level.

Sczarni

A dip in brawler could work, but snakebite gives up the class' strongest feature imho (martial flexibility).

Would Martial Flexibility still be of good use even with a 1 level dip? I'm afraid I've never played one and am not aware of how extensive it can be used with only one level.

Snakebite Striker is a good dip. MF at level 1 requires a move action to use which is not that exciting.

So what about the Wayang racial features? Any good alternate ones, racial traits/feats/archetypes? Synergy with other shadowy stuff?

Grand Lodge

The only Wayang Archetype I am aware of is a Bard archetype. Not great if memory serves, but it does not always.

Only Wayang Feat I am aware of is Shadowy Dash, which can be handy, but only if Stealth is a priority, and you can get some consistant shadows. It is also useless after you get fast stealth rogue talent, as it does the same thing without needing dim light.

Only Wayang Alternate Racial I am aware of is Dissolution's Child, which replaces your shadow magic (+1 to DC and some SLA) with a 1pd supernatural ability to vanish, like the spell vanish, including the duration (max 5 rounds). Might be good for a non caster with sneak attack, but terrible if you are a caster.
