And so now we shift to a ten hour countdown starting tomorrow morning. We're almost there!

Some "on creature death" items might make sense for an NPC to have (a soul trap item could even contain the soul of a person the PCs are trying to save). But they've got to be well designed so they're story-useful.
Sorry this particular thought is probably better for another thread but it's here because of chocolate.
I agree that "Death Items" have little appeal to me as a PC, but I have some friends that love that kind of stuff. They play to blow up the enemy as much as possible...and they play spellragers now mostly. (Rage!... Fireball!)
=)
However, in the end, it was one of these items that provided me a huge "lightbulb!" moment, and I created something that I wish I had come up with long before the contest started. You never know what will cause a new idea to stir and break forth. One of the great things about this contest is seeing something that inspires something else i can create for myself (as a PC or GM), even if it was a "bad design" in the first place.

No...just...no...
lol =P
Augh!
I went to bed early just to wake up and find out I have to wait another 5+ hours!
I'm sitting in my desk rocking back and forth, whispering "4 pm is the end time." over and over agian.
Some fellow employees are looking at me like I'm crazy. I might end up in a straight jacket.
I think I understand when my freinds say I'm obsessive now.
I brought my Inner Sea World Guide to work today and was reading it on my lunch break. I usually get off work at 3:30, but I'm staying until they announce the top 32.
And if I make it, I'm going to start making my map right away, pending the rules for round two mesh with the map I want to make.
I'm just getting my fingers limbered up for all the commenting on the top 32. Grats to you all, whoever you may be!

Mamaursula said something in another thread about not commenting on people's items until tomorrow. In this community, it's considered bad form to just jump right into the critiquing and such.
Or am I misunderstanding? *Puppy dog eyes toward RPGSS Veterans for answers*

Or am I misunderstanding? *Puppy dog eyes toward RPGSS Veterans for answers* Yes, that was about the stuff like 'critique my item' thread, the top 32 you should comment on right away. :)
Ah, thank you!
In that case...*Limbers up Fingers*
EDIT: 3!
I've decided that if I make it to the top 32, I'm buying something to celebrate.
And I don't, I'll need some retail therapy.
Two hours and fifty one minutes according to my watch. Put that scroll to timestop down and step away from it!

Today just might be the best day ever! I get to see one of my favorite bands play live and still have a chance of making it to the next round.
(Oh, and 2 hrs 45 minutes left)
Only about two and a half hours til we crash the site again.
Where's the Guildhall thread? Shouldn't it be up by now?
Clay Clouser wrote: Only about two and a half hours til we crash the site again. I can't help but think this won't be a far cry from the truth:
4:58 pm - *Everyone holds breath*
4:59 pm - *chirp chirp chirp*
5:00 pm - *Paizo website explodes*
5:01 pm - *Everyone exhales*
Someone should make a preemptive shared doc so the lucky few that do get in before the site explodes can share the Top 32 with us (unless that is somehow against the rules).

Since before this year I've had no involvement in Superstar (never eligible to enter, never picked as a judge), I've never had any worries about this part. When the day arrived I'd eventually remember to check, and send out congratulations.
This year, things are different. It's "behind the curtains" stuff, but there are a half-dozen tiny details that need to be pinned down and info to be disseminated before 0-hour. It's a bit tight, especially since we were out yesterday (And what idiot came up with a schedule that made TODAY the day of the big reveal? Oh, wait. Me. Right.)
So I wanted to make sure I popped in and thanked everyone for their enthusiasm for Round One. I know I took some of you off guard, and we still had a great turnout of entries and voting, and great community threads like this one. I appreciate all the energy everyone's put into this.
Now I need to go check the lighting before the curtain goes up...

Good luck to everyone!
Congrats to those who make it into the Top 32!
And for those of you who don't make it into the Top 32, this might be of interest to you.
1 hour and 47 minutes to go!

Can't wait to see who made it! Good luck to all who entered and congrats to the Top 32. Now stop reading the forums and get back to practicing your map skills.
The suspense is killing me!
Thank YOU Owen for hosting and thank you Paizo for having the contest.
Thank YOU Sean for dropping by!

Good work everyone. I'm impressed by everyone's enthusiasm and by the way people were able to step things up despite the twist and shorter window. I'm particularly excited that I could find a few items with my sweep of the full set of items that weren't at the top of the votes but that were extremely well-liked by the judges; it made that work seem really useful and validated for me, as it would have been a terrible shame for those items to be missed!
Thanks to the staff of RPG Superstar, I'm not sure I've ever been filled with as much anticipation.

As you'll see in about an hour, I'm pretty up-front about the flaws an item has, but then again, a sizable portion of the items that made Top 32 got the judges' attention due to my recommendation, so I'm more of the "harsh on the surface to bring out your best but secretly supporting you from the sidelines" type of judge. It's totally possible that I spent a good deal of time outlining your item's flaws and rated it a Weak Keep but then went up to bat for you to be under consideration for Top 32. It's how I roll!
I keep looking at my paizo mailbox and thinking..
"If I were top 32, they would have sent me something by now. I didn't make it!"

Ah, that weird feeling again of being caught between "I wanna be a superstar!" and "I wanna be lazy!" and "My item's a total embarrassment!"
