The R1 rules here have a sample template for a generic magic item. You'll need to adapt it to suit your needs.

Also, make sure you understand BBC code for the full effect of the template, a simple copy-paste from Word will drop all of your bold and italics if you just paste it into the submission window. A full list of what you can do is provided under the submission window (and under every post).
If you use word, there is a tendency when pasting into the edit windows for it to suddenly gain extra line breaks.
To prevent this, right click the edit box in your browser window and choose paste special, paste as text, paste as plain text.
That should stop those errant line breaks appearing.
And preview, always preview the item before submitting! :)
This, if for no other reason than to get an official word count (which is often different than the one word gives according to their calculations).
Yeah, the bbcode was increasing my wordcount in Google Docs. There was, like, a 30 word difference between the two.

Now that voting has started I'm seeing that a lot of entries have links. Was the a requirement or a courtesy?
It wasnt mandatory - it shows you can do BB code - has nothing to do with design and is dangerous if you muck up the template because of it.
It doesn't sway my decision in the slightest - its the design that matters, not the extras :)
Has anyone seen an entry that violates the 300-word-count limit?
If it was a great item in every other respect would you ignore that aspect and vote for it anyway?
How far would any leniency you may have extend, double? triple? 1000 words?
I'm just curious. I haven't seen any over-long entries yet, but tonnes of other formatting violations.
301+ is always a DQ unless the rules state a limit different to 300.
It started with 200, so 300 is a luxury ;)
If you are unsure, PM Owen (unless we have another contact point) and they can double check and DQ if needed.

If the official listed wordcount is 301 or more, we DQ it. Feel free to let me know if you see one we missed.
If the entry is missing things (like its name, or a proper stat block) and would be over word count if we included them (and there are no other issues), we leave it. I expect those to get down voted anyway.
Links don't enter into eligibility either way.
