The unlikeliest thing

I've been gaming for decades and the natural order of things is that an adventurer has been 'out there man'... they've seen everything...

And yet after decades I'm surprised at the number of things that i've never seen happen in a game. This thread is in honor of those things which havent happened in a game where anything is possible, in order to find that thing which, in a world where anything can happen, is the least likely thing to have happened.

Now I'm not talking about really particular and specific things like 'making pancake syrup out of a gelatinous cube' kinda stuff here. I'm talking about stuff that on the surface of it seems like it sort of absolutely should have happened, and yet it inexplicably has not.... Like making omelettes from dragon eggs. I totally *expect* that to have happened. It would be odd for me if I'd been a gamer this long and not seen that.

Add to the list of things you have never seen in a game ever, and favorite the one's on the list you've also never seen. In a world where anything is possible, we will find the thing in gaming that has happened the absolute least!

For example If someone told me 'i've never fought a dragon' I'd say 'that is unreal!'

By the same token this can kind of be like a bucket list... what are the things as a player you think by all rights you should have done by now but oddly, hasnt happened yet.

Really? That happens every now and then in at least one of the groups I play in.

I have not seen a good character turned evil. However, I'd consider that a good thing for most campaigns.

I'd never seen a player character's parents get killed by the GM.

Batman?

I do find it interesting that you suggested batman, and yet didnt mark it, so that means you've had batman in your campaigns...

Batman and the Pope went up against an 80 foot mutant bear in one of our campaigns, so we've definitely had batman!

Excellent examples, guys! I totally would have expected to see the gm kill a characters parents. Its such a common trope... And yet in all my days as a gamer, i've never seen it personally!

Interesting thing about suggesting batman without flagging it though... I can think of a lot of things I totally expect and would be totally surprised not to see. I of course have had these things happen to me, but I'll toss a few up to see if anyone out there would surprise me...

I have never played a lawful character

I of course have done all three of those, but I'm curious to see if there are long time gamers who haven't....

Highest level I've gotten to was 18, and that campaign was awesome.

Impressive! so you could mark the i have never played a 20th level character

I think I have seen one player manage it well; but there are so many others that go strait to CE while crying to the GM about a forced alignment shift that I'm gonna like this one anyway.

Dark Archive

I have never gotten above 17th level with a character.

I have never played an elf.

I have never played a gnome.

I have never played a cavalier plenty of NPCs though.

That is interesting. I seem to put chaotic neutral on my sheet every time for the purposes of not being beholden to an alignment trope, but in play they actually play as neutral good 10 times out of 10...

Wow! No checking that box for me... Man have I died.

Shadow Lodge

Oh I have seen and caused a lot of glorious and inglorious deaths in 31 years. Gotten ridiculously close too; but I have managed to avoid the final judge up until now.

So I'm sure that one of my characters will bite the farm by the end of the month now.

heheheheh. Congradulations all the same so far!

One of the guys at my regular gaming table says he's never been past level 10.

No, but I've seen a shark the size of an elephant fly. Does that count?

Living Greyhawk got weird towards the end.

I've only been playing for slightly over a year, so most of those things have never happened to me.

I have never seen a successful seduction (the one serious attempt I saw ended VERY akwardly for the female PC involved...)

I have sunk a boat. On purpose. And I've seen a PC tell a frightened child a bedtime story.

But as for me, I've never DM/GM'd for a group higher than 13th level.

I've never played a character beyond 13th level.

I mostly DM so I haven't ever played above 13th level. (unless DDO counts highest on there is a 21st level)
DM'd RotRL so have had my players up to 15th or so, next closest was a homebrew that made it to 14th.
I have never fought a Mind Flayer ( Illithid) tho my players have. XD

Does computer gaming count? What about board/card games with strong RPG elements? What about tabletop RPGs that are completely different from D&D/Pathfinder?
