What can I say? Frak Me!

Gaius "The Messiah" Baltar is personally planning to Father the next generation.
Roslyn the Tyrant is taking advice from a certain blond Cylon.
Col Tigh is planning to assassinate Adama (He thinks he is a Cylon).
Starbuck had Been Ostracised because everyone thinks she is a Cylon.
Sam is desperate for her to be a Cylon so he can confess his Cylonness to her (he also thinks hes a Cylon).

And the big vortex that "claimed Starbuck" in Crossroads would appear to be on open jumppoint to earth.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

Why would Tigh want to assassinate Adama if he's #12?

I want to see a conversation between Tyrol and Sharon (Either Boomer or Athena, could be interesting)

I want to see a three way between me, Boonmer and Athena- oh wait, wrong thread.

I'm betting the 5th is Gaeta. Cause that would rock my socks and be hilarious. Or that Scottish guy, Lampkin? Yeah, it'd be great.

Roslin may be a tyrant but she's my favorite. Better than smary semi-attractive Baltar by far.

Frak me, I am EXCITED!

Frak me, I am EXCITED!

Here are the facts: Tigh, Sam, The young lady Assistant to Roslyn the Tyrant, Chief Tyrol think they are Cylons because they all heard the Dylan Song "All Along the Watchtower". They are not. They also think Starbuck is the fifth.

The Five are:

Roslyn the Tyrant - She has exhibited the ability to project her existance into the Operahouse like Sharon and Six. Besides her cancer and the treatment masked the Cylon Test by Baltar.

Petty Officer Duwala - It was her Cylon becon found hanging from the DRADUS.

Chief Tyrol's Wife Cally - He really knows how to pick them.

Boxy - Once rescued from Caprica by Boomer, he vanished out of sight on the ship in Season 1, but probably had real world school commitments.

Zack Adama - Dead, sure but I think he will be back.

Ok, while I respect your opinion I still think your wrong.

The Five revealed at the end of season 3 are all connected to the fleet in very important ways.

Tigh is connected to Admiral Adama. Tory (Roslin's assistant) is obviously connected to Roslin, who is not a Cylon. Her 'visions' are drug induced hallucinations. She's the Prophet. Tyrol takes care of the entire fleet. Sam is connected to Starbuck, who the Cylons have special interest in and may have a part in the prophecy. So, that leaves us with the Fifth, who we don't know yet. Who/what else is important to the fleet and doesn't have a "Cylon Handler", for lack of a better term? Lee Adama or communications are the first ones I can think of. So, D would be a valid choice. So would the Scottish lawyer dude, seeing as Lee isn't so much into being CAG anymore. Also, who would D'Anna apologize to?

Starbuck isn't a cylon. That would be such a cop out.

Another thing to thing about is the skinjobs themselves. Each seems to represent some archetype of human psychology, kinda like Jung said. Leoben is a manipulative trickster, D'Anna a narcissistic pariah, Six is dutiful but still has a conscious. Might be reading too much into the behaviors of the Cylons but the other five could be seen the same way. Tyrol is loyal, pragmatic, and brave. Sam is courageous and passionate. Tigh is also loyal but only to a select few.

Gah, it's late and I'm rambling.

Last thought. We know that the toasters are series one and the skinjobs are series three. Could the final five be series two? Or are series two the hybrids? That would explain why the other skinjobs don't know about the final five.

What if they're ALL cylons... Ah, forget I said that... That would be nuts.

Ultradan

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

I believe the hybrids in the base stars are 'series 2'. If not, then the final five are series 2 or series 4. Somehow Anders overrode the entire frakking cylon armada, that seems to indicate the five have an override on the raiders at least

As to the 12th, We saw with Athena espeically, the seven cannot recognize the five, I am beginning to think that Tyrol could jump up and down naked in front of Sharon and say "I'm a frakking cylon!" and she'd not realize it. What if the 12th is Tom Zarek? He was/is close to both Rosylin and Gaius. I'm betting on Gaetta though.

I've another theory I'm wondering about. The Cylons said they abandoned the 12 colonies. We know there are/were survivors on Caprica (and presumably New Caprica and the other 11 colonies).
What if the theme "Everything that is happening has already happened" is literal? The survivors on the colonies would be unable to maintain the level of technology in their previous lives. What if they would end up at a sustinance/tribal level, then rise up again, with legends of their ancestors mixed with the events of the assault on the colonies? Then in 10,000 years, a brilliant scientist creates a set of robotic servants, they rebel...

The idea that the final five are series 2 is very plausible. These models were abandoned for whatever reason. Obviously, Tigh is pretty messed up psychologically (whether that is an effect of being raised as a human or a glitch in the programing is debatable) and all of the others are very much human. But how could they override the raiders?

I'm not sure, but I think Athena is cut off from the collective conscious of the Cylons. Could've just made that up in my brainz though.

I hadn't thought of Zarek! That would be cool. Still think it's Gaeta too.

I reached something like that in season 1: What if they is humans bred by the Cylons to lead them to earth? That would only be validated if they encountered the original Galactica in earth orbit.

I was a fan of the original BSG, and when the then new miniseries was announced, I was excited. Then I heard some things about it I didn't like and so decided not to watch it. By the time my brain figured out I might actually like the show, it was all ready into the second season, so I decided not to bother. I still kept hearing good things about it, however.

So, last night, for some profoundly illogical reason, I decided to read through the Wikipedia summaries of every episode of the current BSG series, starting with the miniseries and ending with last Friday's Season 4 premier. Now I am trying to decide whether to start watching the show immediately, or wait until its all done, then buy or rent the DVD collections. What should I do?

Start at the beginning. It is imperative that you double plus unthink anything you think you know about the series. Get them all and watch them in order.

So say we all.

Seasons two and three are not out on DVD here in Taiwan. I have not read this thread because I know better than to spoil it for myself.

Rent and catch up my friend- you don't want to behind the curve on this show, especially since this is it and we'll all be abuzz as each episode airs.

Yeah, that pic and the accompanying clues seem to indicate that Starbuck is not the 5th cylon. And, given that the 5th cylon is not in that picture, that doesn't leave all that many significant characters left who might be cylons. My guess is that the 5th cylon is Gaeta (my guess is that Baltar told him that he was a cylon back in the 3rd season, which is why Gaeta tried to kill him and lied on the stand during the trial - it's also why he didn't show up and meet the other four, he already knew he was a cylon due to Baltar, also, 3 of the 4 new cylons were instrumental in getting the humans off of New Caprica, as was Gaeta).

The other two possibilities are Dee or the original Apollo (Baltar's VP). Beyond those three characters, you really have to dig for someone to be the 5th cylon. I suppose it's always possible that it will be someone completely new (ala Al from Quantum Leap and Xena), but it's be a pretty crappy payoff if that were the case.

It's already been leaked that Starbuck is not the 5th. She gave an interview recently that mentioned that. It just makes dramatic sense as well.

Gaeta is a good possibility, but he didn't seem to show up alot in the first new episode. We'll see if his airtime increases. Obviously they'll want to highlight whoever it is going forward so we can be "shocked".

I'm still wondering if the comment made about "none of these present are the 5th" was really just a ploy to divert attention. "you ferreted that out too easy" wasn't exactly a 100% confirmation.

Based upon the photo, Lee is in the "Judas" position and I always thought that would make the best dramatic sense with him going through his self-discovery and also being Adama's son. With the comment he made about his brother coming back I wondered it even further.

That would also fit with the statement from the first season that Adama was a cylon (Rosalin assumed Admiral, but my bet was Lee).

Cally is a possibility, but then you end up w/two cylons having a child together, and I think they've already referred to the child as being the second half-human/half-cylon.

Maybe The Galactica itself is the 5th cylon. That would explain the summoning music *in* the ship.

YeuxAndI wrote:
But how could they override the raiders?

I don't think that was anything Sam was doing deliberately. I think that was the raiders recognizing him and peeling off deliberately, since they do have specific orders not to ever harm any of the 'skinjobs.' (D'anna had to override that command in the process of her death/rebirth experiments.)

The raider that 'ID'd' Sam must have shared that information with the rest of the Cylons instantly, since they bugged out immediately, and we haven't seen their 'leaders' reactions to that yet, so it remains to be seen if the leaders even know *why* their loyal killing machines suddenly stopped shooting and returned to base...

Set wrote:

I actually had a separate reaction to that encounter.

I felt that the raider was being used to flip a switch inside Sam, or something.

I think that the 5th cylon was responsible for that encounter, for the music that got these four together, and is starting to put together his/her end game.

As for who the 5th cylon is? I'd say it has to be someone we know, or else it would have little meaning behind it. I'd say it would have to be someone capable of putting all four of these cylons on Galactica.

Roslyn seems a likely candidate. She was at the right spot at the right time, but maybe too obvious. Maybe someone who we wouldn't expect to see again.

Maybe someone like her first assistant... Billy? Hmmm.

Sharon Agathon was up front from the beginning. She knew she was a cylon and didn't have any hidden programming. She also had an emotional interest (Helo) and a physical interest (Hera). The four don't know if they have any hidden programming. They don't even seem to know how they got there or anything like that. For all we know

Spoiler:
Tory's flushing Cally out the airlock might be a sleeper command, like Sharon Valerie's blowing of the water tanks, or shooting of Adama. That even seems to be the biggest fear of Saul.

I think it's funny myself that the raiders seem to be able to recognize the five and it didn't occur to the 7 to ask them "Well if you recognize them, what do they look like?"

As to the final 1, do we have any other characters with biblical names? Saul, Samuel... Tyrol was a provence in the HRE Tory can come from an Irish term for catholic loyalists, per answers.com

The Ending of Battlestar Galactic may not be what you expect or want. There have been clues throughout the series. President Roslyn said that history keeps repeating itself, and others have done what they did before. Starbuck recently said that she felt like she had been on Earth before, but couldn't remember why.

Ronald Moore will not take the easy way out, or the expected way. I am hoping that the ending will be mind blowing, and that I will be saying "What the Frak?" over and over.

HOWEVER, what if they want to do a feature movie? Moore is not immune to the affects of millions of $$$$ thrown at him. He may change the ending to make a future movie possible. Personally, I don't care. Moore is a writing god, and he can write it however the frak he wants. I am kind of hoping that the ending will pi$$ everyone off. If you don't like it then frak off.

Honestly, I'll be curious to see what happens for an ending - as long as it doesn't delve into a deep cliche'. The minute Galactica arrives on Earth and I start seeing dinosaurs or Cro-magnons...I'll have to just turn off the TV at that point.

More seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if they link it with stories of Greek mythology - given the the links present there. I think it would be more a matter of how Moore and company develop the story of that ending than some last-minute "shocker" final scene. That would be satisfactory for me.

"Thats it Admiral...I've made the computations for the Final Jump to Earth." Gaeta steps over the body of Roslyn the Cylon to hand Adama the gun.

"We can make the final jump at your Command."
"Good! Alert the Fleet and begin the Jump cycle."

The Fleet Jumped into Earth Orbit.

Sensors came on. An ancient Battle Star sat at geostationary orbit. Planetary Autodefense cannons opened fire strafing the new arrivals.

BROADWAVE IDENT: THIS IS THE GALACTICA. ALL CYLONS WILL BE DESTROYED.

Thanks, now I have this image of a T-Rex with one red eye going back and forth.

Starbuck "Oh frak, lizard cylons, what do we do?"
Adama, "Instruct the viper pilots to nudge that asteroid there a little bit towards the planet. One good hit will do it."
Colonel Tigh "By your command."

Where is Count Iblis? My favorite two episodes of the orignal Battlestar Galactic series were "War of the Gods". I cannot understand why Ron Moore didn't write him into the new series. The name means "devil", so I can only imagine that Iblis is the name of the Cylon's One God. Maybe not.

In the original BSG, Count Iblis was going to lead them to Earth. In the recent episode, Starbuck returns from Earth in a new Viper, and she doesn't remember how she got there and back. Perhaps Iblis "Devil" had something to do with it? Why is Balter telling everyone that the Greek Gods the colonists worship are lies? Why he is spreading the word about the One God? Interesting...
