Are Wyrwood as OP as some make it out to be?

People, there's Memory of Function.

Memory of Function:
Source Technology Guide pg. 10
School transmutation; Level arcanist 7, cleric/oracle 7, sorcerer/wizard 7, warpriest 7
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, powdered skymetal worth 10,000 gp
Range touch
Target object or construct touched
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes
Description
Even a broken object remembers what it means to be a functioning whole. You restore a broken object or damaged construct to a functional state, as if it were new and intact. Any pieces missing from the object or construct remain missing. Significant missing pieces may prevent proper functioning. If the object uses charges, the object becomes fully charged. A timeworn object becomes fully charged, but doesn’t lose the timeworn condition (this spell is one of the few ways a timeworn item can be recharged). For 1 hour after this spell is cast on a timeworn object, that object does not suffer any chance of glitching. Other consumables such as ammunition are not restored.

When this spell is cast upon a damaged construct, all hit point damage dealt to that construct is healed. When this spell is cast upon a destroyed construct, it is restored to full functionality and full hit points, provided no significant portion of the destroyed construct (such as an entire limb) is missing. Constructs brought back in this fashion regain their memories up to the moment of their destruction and have no particular inclination to serve the caster.

If you attempt to cast this spell on an object or a construct that has been destroyed for more than 10 years per caster level you possess, the spell fails.

Scarab Sages

Ah. Well, Memory of Function takes precedence then, assuming all the pieces are there.

At the time these people posted, Technology Guide was not yet printed. But good catch.

Scarab Sages

Even still, there is a lot of pushback against anything from the Technology Guide. Memory of Function would be often overlooked/banned simply because it's from that book and some people really don't like sci-fi in their fantasy.

Considering that I've gone to negative hp on a regular basis being a wyrwood sounds scary.

Sneaky/caster Wyrwoods are best and safest. Probably why they get Int/Dex.

Maybe even an Arcane Trickster or similar arcane Rogue-replacement.

the no healing part is why I wish paizo would come up with a living construct type like the warforged

True, but since they get 10 extra hps, they are treated similar to having 10 Con.

Pretend last 10 is your dying stage. Be Cautious the same.

Toughness is your friend.

Has anyone considered the possibilities of utilizing the Construct Modifications on a Wyrwood character?
I know there is the implication on "being inactive to perform maintenance" but that topic was discussed earlier.
Wyrwoods create their own kind. Perhaps simply taking out the cost of the modification from starting gold may allow for this to be a possibility. But hey, that's a GM call.

Any suggestions on this as a possibility?

*rises due to ambient necromantic energies*

Action figggggguuuuuurrrrreeeesssss

They would be great except no where under the player description does it say they are treated as Constructs. They state no Con but nothing else. Androids at least stated they were part constructs and what they got and didn't get. Not for these guys. I'd love to play on if they stated exactly how and what they are. Any GM could shoot them down as constructs because nothing in actual race description does it say they are constructs treat them as constructs.

What are you talking about? "Small construct"

Are gathlains also not fey in your opinion?

Hmm, actually these 10 bonus HP are better than being able to survive till -10. Because you don't have to deal with stabilize etc.. You just have to keep in mind your end comes at 0, not at -10.

Small size, +2 Dex and +2 Int beg for wizard, preferably one who (which?) can protect himself well with defensive spells. Infernal Healing from level 1 on doesn't hurt.

EDIT: In case you ever die, a replacement wyrwood could get your spellbook.

EDIT2: There is now an alternative racial trait to repair yourself, see here.

It would be interesting to play a wyrwood summoner (synthesist). While fused it would have a CON score (with a negative hp threshold), and I think it could be healed (being treated as an outsider).

You're treated as your original type and an outsider, whichever is worse, so regular cure light wounds still won't work, cause you're still a construct. And the eidolon requires rejuvinate eidolon, because it provides temporary hit points, not actual hit points. So now you need 2 different spells to heal that don't work on regular characters.

I really want to make a Wyrwood character one day. Either as a MegaMan/Protoman-like character and blast all the time (Overwhelming soul kineticist maybe) or closer to Atomic Robo and be a smart bruiser (Intelligent brawler maybe? Dr. Dinosaur analyzed his moves to conclude that his top 11 most likely reactions to any given situation to be "nothing but mild variations of punch, shoot, and jump." Or maybe bolt ace that has improved unarmed strike.)

You just made me need to listen to Adam Warrock again.

Oh damn. Didn't even know about that. Awesome!
