And it's something I can share with the boy without worrying if it will give him nightmares.
Fun with the kid I understand, but if that is an example of an emphasis on detective skills and smarts, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree- Black Dynamite was more logical in the chicken and waffles scene.

Only in that he uses his "detective" skills just as much as his fists in the old series. Very different from some of the movies.
But, as far as the plots and writing - well, it was the 60s.......
Also, what's Black Dynamite?

Glad you put that in quotes. Because it sure as hell isn't hard to figure out who did what in those episodes.
Also, what's Black Dynamite?

Also, I have finally accepted that there are no more safe zones. No matter where you go or what you do, someone will be there to intrude upon your life with the latest "outrage" or "injustice" or "offensiveness". Nowhere and no hobby is safe. Not gaming. Not sports. Not music appreciation. Hell, probably not even knitting anymore.
Brewing may still be safe, for awhile. I haven't seen any "outrages" yet. Just give the a!%~#!#s time, though.

The life of a stylite might be for you, then.

Pretty much. And people wonder why I'm a hermit.
What's even worse is when "I don't want to hear about it" is taken as tacit approval of whatever the status-quo of whatever the latest thing to be complained about is, which of course just paints a huge bullseye on your forehead for the people doing the complaining.

Provided you don't have issues with heights.

Eventually, I'll get back into reading heavily. It's hard though. Most of my favorite authors are dead, so no new stuff from them. Others are not writing as much (Brian Lumley), or showing themselves to be kind of a@%%#@+s and douchbags (Stephen King).
Then there are these young people I've never heard of who get published.....yeah, no thanks. I tried that once when I still collected FR novels. WotC brought in some newbs and I figured what the hell. Big mistake. It was one of the first times I've ever not finished a book.
It's why I don't have a subscription to Pathfinder novels. Too many newbs/people I'm unfamiliar with. My reading time is limited. I won't waste it on potential crap.

that's a bit unfair. You never know who's going to be good until you try. I hate FR with a passion, but I love Kemp, Pierson, Byers and DeBie. I have to thank FR for introducing me to their work.

Yes, it is unfair. But I'm old and cranky and can be that way. I've enjoyed some of the "newer" writers FR introduced me to - Kemp being one of the better examples. But there are others I didn't care much for, such as DeBie.
And it's not to say I might never read a newb. I read and enjoyed Sutter's first book. I have his second, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. But there are several PF books that just haven't appealed to me, partly because I didn't think much of the story synopsis, but sometimes didn't think much of the writer.

So, I watched The Flash TV premier last night. I gotta say, for the most part I liked it. At first I had thought the kid they were getting to play Barry Allen was too young, but after watching him (and checking out his actual age) I think he comes across very well. So, kudos to the casting folks for getting that one correct.
And I loved all the little bits of Flash history dropped into the mix. John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen, the empty Grodd cage, STAR Labs. Detective Chyre (sorry to have seen him killed), Weather Wizard, the hint of Professor Zoom, etc.
Couple of things I had a problem with:
Iris West - WTF?!? She's supposed to be a journalist!! Not a DAMNED waitress!
The Cisco character - I found him to be too young and annoying.
Not sure I liked the Eddie Thawne character, although it would be interesting to see if he actually is Eobard, or just his ancestor.
And I don't think any city in its right mind would also such a facility, and such dangerous experiments, to be located in its downtown. New York maybe.....?
