creating a vampire type character

Advice

we may be playing the 'way of the wicked' so i thought of a vampire type character without actually playing a vampire. i have to go tiefling for the fangs. (1d6) I'm guessing an unarmed fighter for class. i grapple and bite. not to sure of what feats to actually take to a degree.

the weapon has me stumped. the creature vampire uses no weapon, not even a bite. odd I thought, just a slam. I'm not even sure how to achieve a slam for me, lol.

feats as i imagine, i took the prerequisits for the unarmed class features, drag, grapple, trip and dirty trick and threw in a couple more.
I guessed the 18 roll is for strength for cmb

1 Improved Grapple
2 Power attack
3 Greater grapple
4 Chokehold
5 Body shield
6 Combat expertise
7 Improved dirty trick
8 Improved trip
9 Pinning rend
10
11 Improved drag
12
13
14
15
16
17
18
19
20

so, do you think i have the race/class correct?
what weapon makes sense?
what other feats do i need?

I'm not so concerned about actually getting a bonus from the blood like a damphir. that whole negative energy concept caused to many problems with a cleric trying to heal the rest of the party. and a whole party of negative energy affinity won't be happening.

this is all for role playing, not min/max uberizing.

Greater grapple needs bab +6. Nonway ro get it at 3 that I know of.

thanks, missed that one.

Vampires often go the "we ams nobility lol" route, which begs for a poncy weapon like a rapier. If you're supposed to be a morally-questionable sadist the Whip or Scorpion Whip can help you tangle-up a target before you get a-grapplin'. The Pilum or Harpoon are useful ranged attacks for similarly troubling an enemy before the wrestling starts.

Finally, a cestus is a pretty good "slam" attack and works in melee. Better than a spiked gauntlet with the crit mod and can go B or P. This is assuming, of course, that you don't just dip a level or two of monk for better damage, saves, etc. I presume you won't because you want to roll with the chaos boyz or summat.

Speaking of, Hungry Ghost monk has a certain vampiric quality to it.

But moving on, the Cruel Enchantment turns knock-outs into temporary hit points; the Merciful weapon enchantment is good for "I like torture" (it hurts but doesn't kill, you see); and if you can con the GM into letting you turn a Sword of Life Stealing into a gauntlet weapon, more power to ya.

Stunning Fist (the feat) is kind of useful and opens up other optional feats. Deflect Arrows is kinda nice if not necessarily the greatest. Iron Will is always good for warriors. Rapid Grappler allows you to grapple and pin in the same round, I think (I'm not that versed in grappling rules).

Also, apparently Dhampir can take the Life Dominant Soul feat, which lets them get healed by positive energy.

But it seems like a real hassle to make 'em work, (-2 con for a warrior), not to mention more feats have to be burned to get their blood-drink on. But what the eff do I know?

Is this for an evil game? Are evil classes allowed?

If so, antipaladin might work.

If you want to grab people and then bite them, monk might be the way to go.

Honestly I'm not really sure how to make a bite attack especially dangerous, though I believe if it is your only attack then you get 1.5 x STR as a damage bonus. I suppose you could apply all kinds of other stuff like weapon focus, power attack, etc. though it would be kind of like optimizing for a club-wielder as your attack will have a base 1d6 damage and no crit modifier. You also will never get to bite more than once per round no matter what your BAB is.

Dhampir is the one vampiric-themed race but they don't seem too great for me, and tiefling may work better. If you want to go tiefling I recommend picking up Blood of Fiends for more tiefling options.

While the AP Way of the Wicked says divine classes should worship Asmodeus, the Demon Lord Zura, queen of the vampires and first of their kind has a favored weapon. The rapier. That's at least a good place to start.

When creating vampires, it says they have to be the same type. Does that include subtype? Could a goblin vampire create a human vampire, or vice versa?

It is possible to become a vampire in Way of the Wicked if the GM agrees. In the third book, if you play your cards right, you can meet a vampire NPC who can make you a vampire if you get him an item he needs. To become a true vampire then requires 5 feats. You can start the process at about level 11-13. Pretty hard to do with just feats from levels. I gave my vampire PC the first feat for free and allowed him to change one old feat per level to a vampire feat. So in the end he became full vampire at level 15. A charisma based class is good for a vampire since you use charisma for hitpoints as an undead creature. My PC is an antipaladin (LE archetype that comes with the AP), the vampire template made him an almost unkillable juggernaut.

I think what u may want is the Racial Heritage Feat and choosing Dhampir as the race u count as. Then you could take any race that counts as human (human, half-elf, half-orc, aasimar with the alternate racial trait that lets them count as human, etc). That will get u better stat block for a martial character than u would with Dhampir. As a half-orc there are 3 ways that get a bite attack: feat, alternate racial trait, and race trait, so that may be one way to go. With Racial Heritage you would count as Dhampir for all the blood drinking feats. This is the way I would go if I wanted to make a more vampire themed character without talking Dhampir as a race.

Dark Archive

Personally I'd go Brawler or Warpriest over fighter.

How about a hungry ghost monk?

This is the "ki stealing" architype. It gets ki back from critical hits or reducing an enemy to 0. Which gives you plenty of incentive to always personally finish off every enemy.

You can easily make it into an addiction, where they are always yearning for their next hit of ki.
